The Sheritl's Department had another very busy year <br />in 1994. Law Enforcement activity was at an all time high. We responded to 5,091 calls <br />for service. 2,548 traffic citations were issued and 4,603 people were arrested. We <br />investigated 322 traffic accidents. There were 86 injury accidents. injuring 139 people. <br />There were 7 fatality accidents investigated involving 9 deaths. There were 14 people <br />arrested for driving under the influence that were involved in these accidents. The Sheriffs <br />Department arrested 329 people for D.UJ., a 43% increase over 1993. <br />Our department investigated 59 burglaries in 1994. This represents a 20.3% <br />decrease from 74 burglaries in 1993. There were 203 larcenies investigated during 1994. <br />'This is a 1% decrease over 223 reported in 1993. We investigated 119 assaults in 1994 <br />compared to 68 in 1993, a 43% increase. There was 1 murder reported in Hall County in <br />1994. There were no robberies reported. <br />Our department is involved in joint drug investigations with the Grand Island <br />Police Department and the Nebraska State Patrol. As a result of these drug investigations, <br />1'8 people were either referred for prosecution to the County Attorney's office or arrested. <br />We were involved in 9 drug related search warrants. <br />During 1994 the Sherltl's Department served 6,701 papers of the court. This is a <br />1 % increase over 1993. We inspected 3,318 motor vehicle titles, a 9% decrease over <br />1993. <br />Our two D.A.R.E. deputies instructed 182 5th & 6th grade students during the <br />spring of 1994. They instructed 156 3rd & 4th grade students during the fall of 1994. <br /> <br />I would like to thank all of the employees of the Sheriffs Department.
