<br />ClSF- /).!J- <br /> <br />. <br />-~~ <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />HALL COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS MEETING APRIL 18, 1995 <br /> <br />i' <br />.( <br /> <br />The Hall County Board of Superivisors met at 9:00.A.M. from <br />adjourned session and by published call with Chairman Irene <br />Abernethy presiding <br /> <br />Present on roll call were Irene Abernethy, Richard Hartman, Margaret <br />Landis, Robert Leslie, Gary Quandt, Judy Rosenkotter and Tammie <br />Stelk. <br /> <br />Invoca"tionwas given by Dennis Hahle from Messiah Lutheran Church. <br /> <br />Pledge of Allegiance was given~ <br /> <br />Quandt made motion and Hartman seconded to accept and place on file <br />the minutes of the April 11th meeting. Abernethy, Hartman, Landis, <br />Leslie, Quandt, Rosenkotter and Stelk all voted yes and none voted <br />no. <br /> <br />Quandt made motion and Landis seconded to place the letter from <br />Mike Morledge on the agenda for today for discussion. Abernethy <br />Hartman, Landis, Leslie, Quandt and Stelk all voted yes and <br />Rosenkotter voted no. Landis suggested that the letter from Truell <br />law firm also be discussed. <br /> <br />Izola Sargent, with the Handi Bus, stated that when the grant <br />application was sent in she received a letter questioning if there <br />should be a new agreement between Hall County and the Senior <br />Citizens Center. Jerry Janulewicz was asked to check on this and <br />make the necessaryrevisions. She applied for funding for a newhandi- <br />bus and the application was approved. In September or October <br />the funding will be available. Quandt made motion and Stelk seconded to send a letter to <br />the city requesting 50% support for the handi-bus. Abernethy, <br />Hartman, Landis, Leslie, Quandt, Rosenkotter and Stelk all voted yes <br />and none voted no. <br /> <br />.:-~ <br /> <br />It was requested that Jerry5i~~co16J be called toP the board meeting <br />for discussion of the letters from Mike Mbrledge. <br /> <br />Deputy County Attorney Jerry Janulewicz presented a letter he <br />received from Craig Nelson from NACO on the creation of a judicial <br />district for public defender. LB950 was adopted in 1969, but there <br />has not been a judicial district formed or funds appropriated. This <br />would shift the costs of indigent defense to the state. Rich Anderson <br />from Buffalo County was contacted and expressed some interest. A <br />task force was created to investigate this issue. Nebraska is one <br />of four states that does not help with indigent defense. The district <br />judges would have__tQ_~~EEQ~~__~his. Various solutions for funding <br />were discussed .An applic~i::ion: for assistance from the public <br />defenders needs to be drawn up. <br /> <br />DJ..scussi,on__Qn th~ letters received from Mike Morledge was held. Jerry <br />!~d~~! sent a letter to Mr. Morledge stat1ng 1f he had any more <br />questions to contact him. It was requested that Ellen distribute <br />all letters received to the board membe~s. Discussion on the full <br />or parttime status of this individual was discuss~d. The original <br />resolution needs to be reviewed and Jerry Pic(cQlo ineeds to clarif~ <br />these matters. - ~ <br /> <br />James Truell is requesting to meet with a committee to discuss the <br />representation that they provide. Stelk, Rosenkotter and Abernethy <br />will meet with him concerning this matter. <br /> <br />The Audit Committee_met with McDermott and Miller concerning the <br />renewal of the contract for two years. Discussion was held on <br />their reccommendation and if it should be up for bids. Hartman <br />made motion and Landis seconded to renew the McDermott and Miller <br />contract with a 3% increase for two years. Abernethy, Hartman, <br />Landis, Leslie, Rosenkotter and Stelk voted yes and Quandt voted no. <br />
