Abernethy, Hartman, Landis, Leslie, <br />Quandt, Rosenkotter 'and Stelk voted yes, none voted no. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION *~ <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Hall County Board of Supervisors desires to encourage the <br />preservation of history in Hall County, Nebraska; and <br /> <br />," <br />.. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Hall County Historical Society has proposed a plan <br />the erection and placement of three new historical markers and the <br />relocation of one existing historical marker pertaining to the early <br />history of Hall County; and <br /> <br />for <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the project is supported by the Hall County Historical <br />Society, the Village of Doniphan, the Township of Doniphan, the Crane <br />Meadows Nature Center, the residents of the Doniphan area, and other <br />interested organizations; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, cost-share funds have been pledged by the Hall County <br />Historical Society, the Village of Doniphan, and the Doniphan Township; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the easements for the placement of the markers can be <br />acquired at no cost to the project; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the historical markers proposed would provide educational <br />information about the early history.of Hall County, including information <br />about the Nebraska City-Fort Kearny Trail, the Grand Island-Saint Joseph <br />Railroad, and the annual migration of the sandhill cranes and other ' <br />migratory birds to the big bend area of the Platte River; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the placement of the markers would not only provide <br />historical information to the many thousands of tourists who visit Hall <br />County each year, but also promote tourism and contribute to the local <br />'economy of Hall County; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Hall County Historical Society has requested the Hall <br />County Board of Supervisors to sponsor the project for purposes of <br />submitting grant applications; <br /> <br />THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the Hall County Board of Supervisors agrees <br />to support the historical markers project presented to it by the Hall <br />County Historical Society on Tuesday, January 17, 1995, and that the Hall <br />County Board of Supervisors agrees to be the sponsor of the project for <br />purposes of submitting grant applications to the Nebraska Department of <br />Roads and the Nebraska Environmental Trust Fund. <br /> <br />Approved by the Hall County Board of Supervisors this 31 day of <br />January, 1995. . <br /> <br />Hall ~Bo~ene Abernethy <br />. <br /> <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />Marjorie Ha old <br />~~~ <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />Approved as to form: <br />Deputy Hall County Attorney Jerom Janulewicz <br />
