<br />Motion made by Hartman, seconded by Quandt to approve the quarterlYAtax
<br />claim for $1500.65 and direct the County Clerks office to pay in order
<br />for the state to receive by January 20th. Abernethy, Hartman, Landis,
<br />Leslie, Quandt, Rosenkotter and Stelk voted yes, none voted no.

<br />Hartman made motion, seconded by Stelk to approve the spending of $2800
<br />for a bouncing ball light to be installed at the intersection of Bismark
<br />Rd and Shady Bend Rd. Abernethy, Hartman, Landis, Leslie, Quandt, Rosen-
<br />kotter and Stelk voted yes, none voted no.

<br />Jeanette Sulzman, director of Center Nebraska Council on Alcholism,
<br />reported the activities of the center for the last 6 months. She explained
<br />the juvenile diversion program.
<br />
<br />Board members discussed the expenses of mileage for the Public Defender's
<br />staff. to travel between Grand Island and Norfolk. Previously expenses for
<br />travel had been paid to a staff who used their own car for traveling these
<br />miles. Now the Public Defender's staff will have a county owned car and
<br />the mileage and upkeep expenses will be the department's responsibility.
<br />The Public Defender had asked if these expenses were to come from his
<br />budget or continue to come from the County Court/District Court budget.
<br />Motion made by Hartman, seconded by Quandt to have this expense come from
<br />the .public Defender's budget. Hartman, Landis, Leslie and Quandt voted yes,
<br />Abernethy and Stelk voted no, Rosenkotter abstained. Motion carried.

<br />A letter from FEMA concerning the flood hazard as requested by Jerry D
<br />and Ann S Atkins was referred to Jerry Janulewicz, Deputy County Attorney,
<br />and Nelson Helms, Regional Planning, by motion of Quandt and a second by
<br />Landis. Aberenthy, Hartman, Landis, Leslie, Quandt, Rosenkotter and
<br />Stelk voted yes, none voted no.
