<br />with stipulation of the working tank and field installation. Permit to

<br />Wood River Mayor Ervin Mazour spoke with the Board in regard to the Jack
<br />Shafer project of a clear water museum, encourage County support as would
<br />be a big tourist attraction.
<br />
<br />COUNTY BOARD ASSISTANT REPORT: Ellen Merrill had provided written weekly
<br />progress report. (1) Conditional Use Committee needs to set up a meeting
<br />to review the draft prepared on junk cars in rural area. (2) The County
<br />Van will leave at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 3rd from the County Board
<br />Assistant's office for the Convention in Omaha. (3) Had received order
<br />form for County Board handbooks to be ready at State Convention in Omaha
<br />to be picked up. Board Assistant and County Clerk recommended purchase of
<br />4 copies. One for Board Room, One for Board Assistant's office, County
<br />Attorney and County Clerk.
<br />Motion by Abernethy, seconded by Long to authorize purchase of four
<br />County Board Handbook inserts for County Attorney, County Board, County
<br />Board Assistant and County Clerk. Abernethy, Landis, Leslie, Long,
<br />Quandt and Stelk voted yes, none voted no. Hartman was absent from his chair.

<br />NEWS RELEASE RECOMMENDATION: Howard Maxon, Communications Director had
<br />sent over a news release with information on Hall County Board Meetings
<br />being televised on TCI Cable and on UHF Channel 56, to inform the public
<br />of when meetings can be seen on television.
<br />Motion by Landis, seconded by Hartman to place in news release in all
<br />local newspapers. Abernethy, Hartman, Landis, Leslie, Long, Quandt and
<br />Stelk voted yes, none voted no. Motion carried.

<br />DISCUSSION JOB DESCRIPTION AND ADVERTISING FOR COUNTY BOARD ASSISTANT VACANCY.
<br />Ellen Merrill, County Board Assistant will be leaving County employment on
<br />December 6, 1996. Chair asked for input from Board members as to update for
<br />job description and how to advertise the vacancy.
<br />After lengthy discussion and comments from board members, they deter-
<br />mined to have a Study Session December 2, 1996 at 10:00 a.m. to discuss in
<br />more detail the job description and advertising for the position.
<br />Pamela Lancaster, 2809 Apache, Board member elect spoke. She was very
<br />interested in the board's comments and she suggested getting job descriptions
<br />from other counties, by fax, before the Monday meeting.

<br />COUNTY BOARD MEMBER REPORTS:

<br />Hartman - Mid Plains Center meeting was to be last night, but did not have
<br />quorum so unable to have meeting. He did give each board member
<br />a copy of the chart of income and fund balances from June 1990
<br />thru October, 1996 for information.
<br />
<br />Abernethy - Attended the Chamber of Commerce Elected Officials reception
<br />last Thursday.
<br />
<br />Landis - Attended Condtional Use Committee meetings. She also had questions
<br />on Health Department meetings which Chair Stelk answered.
<br />
<br />Quandt - Attended the Midland Area Agency on Aging meeting last Thursday.
<br />
<br />Long Attended CNCS meeting at Loup City, Conditional Use Committee
<br />meetings, Economic Development meeting and the Elected Officials
<br />reception.

<br />Chair Stelk announced the Board Members will take quarterly tour of jail
<br />facility, immediately following today's board meeting.
<br />Stelk expressed words of Thanks and appreciation to Ellen, since this will
<br />be her last County Board Meeting as County Board will not meet December 3rd.
<br />
<br />Supervisor Long spoke in regard to call he had received in regard to junk at
<br />the Old Geer Plant on East Highway 30. Max Boersen, Hall County Building
<br />Inspector was present and he stated this was within the City of Grand Island
<br />jurisdiction.
