<br />t(~;:-/~J <br /> <br />BREAK: Chair called a break at 10:25 A.M. and returned to regular <br />session at 10:33 A.M. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION WITH COUNTY TREASURER ON MOTOR VEHICLE EXPRESS WINDOW: Doris <br />Mason, County Treasure~ and Lewelyn Rehder, motor vehicle department <br />superviso~ stated that the express window was opened three weeks ago. <br />This window is for renewals only. The board suggested that a sign <br />be placed explaining the items needed for the express window renewals <br />so people would not use the numbers for this window. Discussion was <br />held on the long lines and if closing on Arbor Day contributed to <br />this problem. <br /> <br />Sandi Fitzsimons, 2412 North Kruse and Joan Hammer, 4234 West Airport <br />Road, spoke to the board concernirqextending the hours for the motor <br />vehicle department to accommodate the public. This will be discussed <br />at budget time. <br /> <br />EXECUTIVE SESSION GRAND ISLAND REGENCY RETIREMENT VS HALL COUNTY: <br />11:05 A.M. Quandt made a motion and Rosenkotter seconded to go into <br />executive session regarding Grand Island Regency Retirement Vs. Hall <br />County Board of Equalization. Abernethy, Hartman, Landis, Leslie, <br />Quandt, Rosenkotter and Stelk all voted yes and none voted no. Motion <br />carried. <br /> <br />11:25 A.M. Quandt made a motion and Leslie seconded to go out of <br />executive session. Abernethy, Hartman, Landis, Leslie, Quandt, <br />Rosenkotter and Stelk all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> <br />TAX CORRECTION NOTICES: Jan Pelland, Hall County Assesso~ presented <br />tax correction notices number 1273 through 1308 to the board. Quandt <br />made a motion and Rosenkotter seconded to authorize the Chair to initial <br />tax correction notices 1273 through 1308. Abernethy, Hartman, Landis, <br />Leslie, Quandt, Rosenkotter and Stelk all voted yes and none voted no. <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />BOARD OF EQUALIZATION: 11:30 A.M. Quandt made a motion and Leslie <br />seconded to go into a Board of Equalization meeting. Abernethy, <br />Hartman, Landis, Leslie, Quandt, Rosenkotter and Stelk all voted yes <br />and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> <br />11:35 A.M. Quandt made a motion and Abernethy seconded to return to <br />regular session. Abernethy, Hartman, Landis, Leslie, Quandt, <br />Rosenkotter and Stelk voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> <br />COUNTY ATTORNEY: Deputy County Attorney Jerry Janulewicz requested <br />direction from the county board concerning CWA negotiations with the <br />Public Works Department. Richard Hartman worked with Jerry Janulewicz <br />last year and was directed to work on this again this year. <br /> <br />Landis stated that a Paunch Manure Committee meeting was held Thursday, <br />April 25. The committee worked on the final resolution. The public <br />hearing on the application of paunch manure in Hall County will be <br />held May 7, at 10:00 A.M. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF TWO OMITTED CLAIMS FOR APRIL: A claim for $29.46 for <br />county retirement match to Ameritas Life Insurance and $37.54 for <br />social security match to Norwest Bank were presented to the board. <br />These two claims will be from the Canine Fund because there was <br />overtime paid to two employees for April. It was questioned if <br />salaries could be paid from this fund. The Audit Committee will <br />meet to review the" Canine fund and the Corrections Department <br />food account and made a recommendation to the Board. Quandt made <br />a motion and Hartman seconded to approve the two claims for the <br />Canine Fund. Abernethy, Hartman, Landis, Leslie, Quandt and Stelk <br />all voted yes and Rosenkotter abstained. Motion carried. <br /> <br />COMMUNICATIONS: The letter from Bill Barrett, Congressman, regarding <br />the Wood River Diversion Project was discussed. The percentages <br />for the city, county, NRD, Merrick County and the federal share were <br />questioned. It was suggested that Ron Bishop be contacted to <br />clarify these amounts. <br />
