She <br />introduced Visitor Promotion Council members Bruce Swihart and Al <br />Ruby who had arrived during her presentation. <br /> <br />COMMUNICATIONS: Rosenkotter asked that a response be written to <br />the Lebensraum letter regarding landscaping at the Weed and <br />Predator Control Building. Abernethy suggested the board <br />consider planting trees around the area where eauipment is stored <br /> <br />and visit with Hostler about keeping the area neat. Hostler said <br />perhaps he can obtain some trees from the Central Platte Natural <br />Resources District. Grand Island Daily Independent Reporter <br />Carol Bryant agreed to provide information about trees which are <br />available to governmental entities. Quandt offered 30 to 40 <br />maple trees. <br /> <br />Election Commissioner Mary Kay Shay addressed the letter from <br />Dorothy Aubushon regarding space for poll worker meetings. <br />Rosenkotter asked Shay to respond to that letter. <br /> <br />Landis questioned Hostler regarding the letter he had sent to the <br />State Roads Department regarding accidents on Engleman Road. <br />Hostler said' he wanted another opinion on what might be causing <br />these accidents. Hartman suggested a blinking light be installed <br />there and at the intersection of Husker Highway and Highway 11. <br />He asked Hostler to right another letter regarding the latter <br />because it's time something be done about it. <br /> <br />Hartman asked Hostler to meet with Janulewicz to propose an <br />agreement with the City of Grand Island to split the costs for <br />maintenance of Husker Highway or allow the County to obtain part <br />of the dump fees since the City can spend money outside of the <br />city limits and the dump trucks are tearing up the road. <br /> <br />Rosenkotter made a motion which was seconded by Abernethy to <br />accept the communications. Quandt, Landis, Hartman, Stelk, <br />Leslie, Abernethy, Rosenkotter voted yes and none voted no. <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />COUNTY BOARD ASSISTANT'S REPORT: Merrill asked how to respond to <br />the letters from Parents Anonymous and the Salvation Army <br />regarding keno funds. Landis suggested waiting until the use of <br />keno funds for roads projects is decided tonight. Hartman . <br />suggested checking with the City to find out what's done with <br />that entity's keno proceeds. <br /> <br />Merrill asked for proposed dates that a workshop could be held <br />through the Extension Service. Stelk stated she was willing to <br />pay for the expenses of this workshop. Abernethy and Rosenkotter <br />agreed to assist with the expenses. Landis suggested'waiting <br />until summer. Hartman and Quandt said they won't attend so the <br />issue was dropped. <br /> <br />Merrill was asked to change the proposed letter to surrounding <br />counties regarding detention of prisoners to set the meeting for <br />7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20, and advertise it so all board <br />members can attend. <br /> <br />COUNTY BOARD MEMBERS' REPORTS: Landis said she attended the <br />Corrections Committee meeting. She said the advertisement for <br />the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant Reuse Committee's scope of <br /> <br />:.- ii. ".'~ , '*" <br />
