Deputy County Attorney Jerry Janulewicz presented the contract with
Hall County and School District 83 for the duties of County
Superintendent. This agreement is for a term of four years for
$30,000.00 per year. The agreement follows the same form as the
previous agreement, but includes a provision for termination if there
is a change in legislation. Quandt made a motion and Abernethy
seconded to authorize the Chair to sign the agreement with School
District 83. Abernethy, Leslie, Quandt, Rosenkotter and Stelk all
voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried.

The agreement with Hall County and correction officer Edmund Kleeb
was presented. This agreement was discussed at the Board of
Corrections meeting January 30, in executive session. This provides
that Mr. Kleeb would no longer be an active full-time employee but would
be paid through September 30, 1996 for the accrued vacation, holiday
and sick leave. He would then receive a settlement of $10,000.00 that
would release the County from any other claims. Rosenkotter made a
motion and Abernethy seconded to accept the agreement and authorize
the Chair to sign. Abernethy, Leslie, Quandt, Rosenkotter and Stelk
all voted yes and none voted no. Hartman was present but did not
vote. Motion carried.

Lois Stienke and Karen Smith with Senior Citizens presented a claim
to the Board for the funds for the new Handi-Bus. Quandt made a
motion and Abernethy seconded to approve and pay the claim for
$12,000.00. Abernethy, Hartman, Leslie, Quandt, Rosenkotter and Stelk
all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried.
Penny Skalka, with the Homeless Shelter, reported that they had served
489 people from June to December 1995. They also provide other
services such as donations of food, clothing and home furnishings.
The new homeless shelter can house 22 people and they have 2
apartments. The mortgage on the house has been paid off. They are
working on the 1996 budget and are looking at some building repairs.
Some of the local churches have adopted rooms at the homeless shelter.
They work closely with the Salvation Army and the Food Pantry. The
Help Center, Crisis Center and Department of Social Services do the
case management.
