<br />~ 11 P .5ta.J <br /> <br />t <br /> <br />.\ <br /> <br />HALL COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS MEETING SEPTEMBER 23, 1997 <br /> <br />The Hall County Board of Supervisors met by published call <br />September 23, 1997, at 9:00 a.m. in the County Board meeting <br />room, 121 South Pine, Grand Island, Nebraska. <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order by Chairman Huey <br />Long. <br /> <br />INVOCATION: Invocation was given by Rev. George Wheat. <br /> <br />ROLL CALL: Present on roll call were Irene Abernethy, Richard <br />Hartman, Pamela Lancaster, Margaret Landis, Huey Long, Gary <br />Quandt and Tammie Stelk. Also present were Deputy County <br />Attorney Jerry Janulewicz and news media representatives from <br />KRGI and the Grand Island Independent. <br /> <br />MINUTES OF SEPTEMBER 16 MEETING: Stelk made a motion and Landis <br />seconded to accept the minutes of the September 16 meeting and <br />place on file. Abernethy, Hartman, Lancaster, Landis, Long and <br />Quandt all voted yes and Stelk abstained. Motion carried. <br /> <br />COUNTY ATTORNEY: There were no items of discussion this week <br />with the County Attorney's Office. <br /> <br />APPROVE RESOLUTION #97-0063 FOR HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES: Jerry <br />Ryan, Director of Area Agency on Ageing in Hastings, met with the <br />Board. The following resolution was read (see exhibit A) . <br />Abernethy recommended that an additional paragraph regarding the <br />regional boundaries be added to the resolution. Motion to accept <br />the resolution and accept the additional language added by Mr. <br />Ryan, and approved by Jerry Janulewicz, for the Health and Human <br />Services was moved by Stelk and seconded by Abernethy. <br />Abernethy, Hartman, Lancaster, Landis, Long, Quandt, and Stelk <br />all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> <br />AUTHORIZATION FOR THE DIRECT DEPOSIT: Landis moved that <br />authorization for the Chairman of the Board to sign the direct <br />deposit be made, seconded by Abernethy. Abernethy, Hartman, <br />Lancaster, Landis, Long, Quandt, and Stelk all voted yes and none <br />voted no. Motion carried. <br /> <br />ERIC VOLDEN - CRANE MEADOWS CONCERNING GRANT: Deputy County <br />Attorney Jerry Janulewicz noted that Mr. Rick Smith had contacted <br />him late yesterday afternoon. Regarding the proposal of Hall <br />County to apply for a Community Develop Block Grant Program as <br />discussed with the Board last week. Mr. Janulewicz had just <br />received the materials late yesterday afternoon. Therefore, Mr. <br />Janulewicz has not had the opportunity to do any research on this <br />matter. There was a form letter that had been prepared for Hall <br />County. This letter was prepared by Mr. Smith, and Mr. <br />Janulewicz had no quarrels with the language of the letter. If <br />the Board chose to approve this then a letter of intent would <br />need to be written on Board stationery and signed by the Chairman <br />
