<br />f7F;;<bt/ <br /> <br />PUbL1C wu~KS DEPARTMENT TO CONSIDER STARTING ONE HOUR EARLIER <br />DURING SUMMER: This was requested because of the heat. The <br />public works department would start at 7:00 a.m. and leave at <br />3:30 p.m. Hartman stated that he wanted to settle this during <br />the union negotiations and he didn't feel it would be necessary <br />to close the office so early. It was suggested that the <br />secretaries could stager their hours. Neil Kelly, with the CWA, <br />stated that this was only a humanitarian issue and not part of <br />the union negotiations. Landis made a motion and Abernethy <br />seconded to allow the workers to start early but to have the <br />secretaries stager their hours and this would be up to the <br />department head to set the hours. This would be temporary and it <br />would be changed when necessary. Kelly stated again, that this <br />would be temporary and it was only a humanitarian issue. <br />Discussion was held. Landis amended her motion to state for only <br />30 days Abernethy did not amended her second. Landis withdrew <br />her amendment. Abernethy, Lancaster, Landis, Long and Quandt all <br />voted yes and Hartman and Stelk voted no. Motion carried. <br /> <br />PUBLIC PARTICIPATION: Sandi Yoder with Stuhr Museum requested to <br />speak under public participation. Sandi announced that the <br />museum will begin construction of a new collections storage <br />building to house the museum's historical artifacts. This will <br />be funded by gifts and no tax dollars will be used. They will be <br />letting out bids and hope to begin construction in August. This <br />building will be climate controlled to preserve the artifacts. <br />Yoder also stated that they have started working on the <br />restoration of the train. <br /> <br />FINAL ACTION ON THE KENO REQUESTS: Hartman stated that this <br />needed to be completed. Hartman made a motion and Lancaster <br />seconded to approve the keno request as decided last week. <br />Abernethy, Hartman, Lancaster, Landis, Long all voted yes and <br />Quandt and Stelk voted no. Motion carried. <br /> <br />9:45 a.m. Break. <br /> <br />9:54 a.m. Returned to session. <br /> <br />APPROVE REUSE MEMBER TO ATTEND CONFERENCE: Landis met last <br />Thursday with the OEA and was informed that there will be an <br />important conference August 2 and 5 in SanAntonio. She was <br />encourage to have a member attend this conference. Landis stated <br />she could attend but it was to late to get reservations so she <br />requested to take this off the agenda. <br /> <br />SET DATE AND TIME FOR JOINT CITY COUNTY MEETING ON THE HEALTH <br />DEPARTMENT BUDGET: Stelk requested that this work-study session <br />be held August 4, at 6:30 p.m. She encouraged at least five <br />board members to attend. Stelk made a motion and Lancaster <br />seconded to set the joint meeting for August 4, at 6:30 p.m. to <br />discuss the Health Department budget. Abernethy, Hartman, <br />Lancaster, Landis, Long, Quandt and Stelk all voted yes and none <br />voted no. Motion carried. <br /> <br />COUNTY BOARD SECRETARY REPORT: Lisa Hagen, board secretary, <br />included her progress report in the board member's packets. She <br />reminded the board member's she needed to collect for the flowers <br />for the funeral. <br /> <br />BOARD MEMBER'S REPORTS: Quandt - The joint meeting with Hall <br />County, Merrick County and the City concerning the 2-mile <br />jurisdiction was held and they will hold another meeting <br />September 10, he also attended the Midland Area Agency on Aging <br />meeting, the Housing Authority luncheon and stated there was not <br />a Head Start or Region III meeting. <br /> <br />Stelk - She attended the Health Board meeting and they have set a <br />date and time for the joint meeting, the Board of Equalization <br />meeting and the tower meetings. <br /> <br />Landis - She attend the tower meeting last week and again today. <br />The plans for the building are coming along and she stated Tom <br />Jamison has b~en helping with all the red tape on the tower. <br />She also had audit committee meeting last week and today. <br /> <br />Hartman - None. <br />
