<br />Session in regard to Crane Meadow Nature Center vs Board of Equalization and
<br />also Veterans Service Compensation. Abernethy, Hartman, Lancaster, Landis,
<br />Long, Quandt and Stelk voted yes, none voted no. Motion carried.

<br />Motion by Lancaster, seconded by Landis to authorize Attorney Janulewicz to
<br />confess judgement in Crane Meadow Nature Center vs Board of Equalization for
<br />tax exemption for 1996 at the hearing with TERC Board tomorrow. Abernethy,
<br />Lancaster, Landis, Long and Stelk voted yes, Quandt voted no, Hartman
<br />abstained. Motion carried.
<br />
<br />COUNTY ASSESSOR TAX CORRECTION NOTICES - Janet Pelland County Assessor
<br />presented Tax correction notices #1565 to #1574 for approval.
<br />Motion by Quandt, seconded ty Stelk to authorize Chairman to initial
<br />tax correction notices #1565 thru #1574. Abernethy, Hartman, Lancaster,
<br />Landis, Long, Quandt and Stelk voted yes, none voted no. Motion carried.

<br />Supervisor Stelk questioned County Assessor about the letter received from
<br />Excel Management and Development Services in regard to affordable housing
<br />in Nebraska. Pelland explained the locations of property in Grand Island
<br />in question was located at Adams Street near Barr Junior High School. She
<br />explained the instructions from Department of Revenue on classification
<br />of properties.
<br />Motion by Hartman, seconded by Quandt to support the County Assessor
<br />in regard to project in question. Discussion followed and since was not
<br />an agenda item, Motion was withdrawn and placed on County Board Agenda
<br />for next week's meeting.

<br />RESOLUTION #97-0023 PROCLAIMING APRIL AS CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH.
<br />Motion by Stelk, seconded by Abernethy to adopt Resolution #97-0023 pro-
<br />claiming April as Child Abuse Prevention Month. Abernethy, Hartman,
<br />Lancaster, Landis, Long, Quandt and Stelk voted yes, none voted no. Motion
<br />carried.

<br />RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING APRIL AS CIDLD ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH

<br />WHEREAS, Nebraska and Hall County are committed to supporting families through
<br />programs that will prevent child abuse and neglect; and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, there are numerous dedicated individuals and organizations in Hall
<br />County who work daily to break the cycle of child abuse and neglect and to find families the
<br />assistance that they need; and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, all children deserve love, comfortable homes, and tender care from
<br />parents and adults who make them feel safe, happy, and loved; and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, child abuse prevention is a community problem and finding solutions
<br />depends on involvement among people throughout the community; and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, statistics of children who are abused and neglected escalate each year;
<br />
<br />and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the effects of child abuse are felt by whole communities and need to be
<br />addressed by the entire community; and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, effective child abuse prevention programs succeed because of partnerships
<br />created among social services agencies, schools, religious organizations, law enforcement
<br />agencies, and the business community; and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, youth-serving prevention programs offer positive alternatives for young
<br />people and encourage youth to develop strong ties to their community; and
