<br />d-lJ <br /> <br />COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS MEETING SETPEMBER 22, 1998 <br /> <br />.,.//. <br /> <br />./ <br />/_~i~ll County Board of Supervisors met from adjourned session <br />/and by published call in the county board meeting room, 121 South <br />Pine, Grand Island, Nebraska, September 22, 1998, at 9:00 a.m. <br /> <br />/---~ <br />~/ <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Chairman Richard Hartman. <br /> <br />Present on roll call were Irene Abernethy, Richard Hartman, <br />Pamela Lancaster, Margaret Landis, Huey Long, Gary Quandt and <br />Tammie Stelk. Also present were County Attorney Ellen Totzke <br />and news media representatives from the Grand Island Independent <br />and KRGI. <br /> <br />MINUTES OF THE SEPTEMBER 8 MEETING: Quandt made a motion and <br />Lancaster seconded to approve the minutes of the September 8 <br />meeting. Abernethy, Hartman, Lancaster, Landis, Long, Quandt and <br />Stelk all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> <br />COUNTY ATTORNEY: Lancaster requested that this item be added <br />concerning nude or partially nude entertainment in Hall County. <br />County Attorney Ellen Totzke stated that Jerry Janulewicz <br />recommended that a committee be appointed to address this matter. <br />Landis questioned if it was in the two-mile jurisdiction if Hall <br />County could address this. Lancaster made a motion and Stelk <br />seconded to appoint a committee to address this matter. <br />Abernethy, Hartman, Lancaster, Landis, Long, Quandt and Stelk all <br />voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> <br />APPOINTMENT OF WEED CONTROL SUPERINTENDENT: The letter of <br />recommendation from the Weed Board was read listing Jack Niemoth, <br />Randy Valasek and Philip Zeller as the top three choices. <br />Discussion was held on the certifications that are necessary for <br />the weed superintendent and if it was necessary to have the <br />certifications before he is appointed. Landis made a motion to <br />appoint Jack Niemoth as the weed superintendent. No second was <br />made, so the motion failed. Quandt requested to address this <br />later until a phone call could be made to the Department of <br />Agriculture. Stelk stated that if the applicants' names were <br />used this discussion should be in executive session. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION AND APPOINTMENT TO CVE BOARD: Lancaster stated that a <br />member of the convention and visitors board will be resigning and <br />the County Board will need to make an appointment. She requested <br />that the add be run for the bank of volunteers and once this is <br />done a recommendation will be made for the appointment. <br />Lancaster made a motion and Stelk seconded to run the ad for the <br />bank of volunteers. Abernethy, Hartman, Lancaster, Landis, Long, <br />Quandt and Stelk all voted yes and none voted no. Motion <br />carried. <br />
