Motion carried. <br /> <br />PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE REPORT TO INSTALL CULVERT: The public <br />works committee recommends that the Hall County Public Works <br />Department install a 24~ culvert under Stuhr Road just north <br />of Wildwood Drive and at the northwest corner of Bridge <br />23B9. Quandt made a motion and Stelk seconded to authorize <br />the public works department to install the culvert. <br />Abernethy, Lancaster, Landis, Long, Quandt and Stelk all <br />voted yes and none voted no. Hartman abstained. <br /> <br />REDUCING SIZE OF LIQUOR LICENSE AREA FOR N~~ ALDA LOUNGE - <br />RON SCHIERLING: Ron Shierling, 1217 West 5 ,owner of the <br />New AIda Lounge stated that he is requesting to decrease the <br />size of the beer garden area in order to provide more <br />parking area. A new approach will make it more assessable <br />to the customers. Quandt made a motion and Stelk seconded <br />to refer this to Deputy County Attorney Jerry Janulewicz. <br />Abernethy, Hartman, Lancaster, Landis, Long, Quandt and <br />Stelk all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> <br />EXTENSION OFFICE PROGRESS REPORT: Extension agent Tom Drudik <br />and Marilyn Fox presented their quarterly report. Drudik <br />stated that the extension programs are changing and board <br />member Tammie Stelk also serves on their board. He stated <br />that the 4-H program held 50 activities with 1,969 <br />participants. The extension office has held 56 activities <br />with 2,173 participants, including commercial and private <br />pesticide training, beef feedlot roundtable, master gardener <br />training/livestock management classes and ServSafe. He <br />reported on the extended education classes, the ESU <br />meetings, FAA, health department, St. Francis, Children's <br />Water Summit and the CAAP meetings. Marilyn Fox, extension <br />educator reported on the ServSafe program that they have <br />started. This provides a certification on safe food <br />handling tecln.:iqres to people in restaurants, hospitals, day <br />care and care homes. Since July of 1997 71 people have been <br />certified and they have increased the certification rate <br />from 86% to 96%. There are no local requirements for <br />certification but the Nebraska Restaurant Association <br />encourages the certification. Stelk suggested that Marilyn <br />work with the health department on this project. The cost <br />of the class is $95.00. Marilyn stated that the instructors <br />need to be recertified every three years. Mr. Drudik stated <br />the budget for 1998-1999 will be $50,000.00. <br /> <br />APPROVE LAURIE J DILLEY FOR MANAGER'S LICENSE FOR CLASS E&K: <br />Stelk made a motion and Landis seconded to approve the <br />manager's license for Laurie Dilley. Hartman, Lancaster, <br />Landis, Long, Quandt and Stelk all voted yes and Abernethy <br />voted no because she disagrees with the sale of alcohol <br />along public roads. Motion carried. <br />
