Abernethy, Hartman, Lancaster, Landis, <br />Long, Quandt and Stelk all voted yes and none voted no. Motion <br />carried. <br /> <br />SHERIFF'S REPORT: Sheriff Terril Perkins reported that Chaplain <br />Larry Nothstine was appointed and sworn in and he had attended <br />the annual conference of chaplain. Chap~n Nothstine will <br />counsel the department and monitor the death notifications. <br />Chaplin Nothstine was in law enforcement in Los Angeles County, <br />California and has a master in psychology. The Sheriff reported <br />that they have started 24-hour road patrol and they are doing the <br />testing for the reserve deputy program. <br /> <br />11:00 A.M. DAN ROSENTHAL, BURLINGTON & NORTHERN LETTER ON <br />RAILROAD CROSSINGS: Mr. Rosenthal presented maps and hand-outs to <br />the board members concerning the closing and rerouting of some <br />railroad crossings in Hall County. A crossing on Englemen Road, <br />is recommended to be closed and a connecting road be constructed <br />north of the railroad tracks from Airport Road to Engleman Road <br />providing access with an estimated cost of $80,000.00. A <br />crossing on the west edge of Abbott and the roadway south of the <br />tracks to the Abbott Alfalfa Mill become public and improvements <br />be made to it for access to Abbott Road via 70th Road. Lights <br />and gates would be installed on 70th Road and the cost would be <br />funded 100% with Federal and State funds. Three crossings on <br />White Cloud Road are recommenced to be closed. They are <br />recommending that a connector road,~ be built and an irrigation <br />well would have to be replaced. Flashing lights and gates would <br />be installed. Public hearings would have to be held to close the <br />roads and it would need to be referred to Dan Hostle~ Public <br />Works Directo~ for the preliminary work. <br /> <br />APPROVE RESOLUTIONS FOR PROJECT BR07040(19): Landis made a motion <br />and Stelk seconded to approve resolutions #98-0026, #98-0027 and <br />#98-0028 for Project BR07040(19).
