<br />tl?f.: CJcJ q 3 <br />W.I..u..:,REAS, the effects of child abuse are felt by whole corrnnunities and need to be <br />addressed by the entire community; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, effective child abuse prevention programs succeed because of <br />partnerships created among social services agencies, schools, religious organizations, law <br />enforcement agencies, and the business corrnnunity; and <br /> <br />vVHEREAS, youth-serving prevention programs offer positive alternatives for young <br />people and encourage youth to develop strong ties to their corrnnunity; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, all citizens should become more aware of child abuse and its prevention <br />within the community and become involved in supporting parents to rear their children in a <br />safe, nurturing environment; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Hall County Board of Supervisors <br />that April is Child Abuse Prevention Month in Hall County and that we call upon citizens, <br />community agencies, religious organizations, medical facilities, and businesses to increase <br />their participation in our efforts to prevent child abuse, thereby strengthening the corrnnunities <br />in which we live. <br /> <br /> <br />BY: <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />~A&~ ~~ <br />~la . Stelk made a motion and Abernethy <br />seconded to approve the proclamation. Abernethy, Hartman, <br />Lancaster, Landis, Long, Quandt and Stelk all voted yes and none <br />voted no. Motion carried. <br />
