<br />c:;g--F~~~- A <br /> <br />HALL COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS MEETING MARCH 24, 1998 <br /> <br />The Hall County Board of Supervisors met from adjourned session <br />and by published call in the County Board meeting room, 121 South <br />Pine, Grand Island, Nebraska. <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Chairman Richard Hartman. <br /> <br />Invocation was given by Rev. Robert Harms from Trinity Lutheran <br />Church. <br /> <br />The Pledge of Allegiance was given in unison. <br /> <br />ROLL CALL: Present on roll call were Irene Abernethy, Richard <br />Hartman, Pamela Lancaster, Margaret Landis, Huey Long, Gary <br />Quandt and Tammie Stelk. <br /> <br />MINUTES OF MARCH 10 MEETING: Quandt made a motion and Long <br />seconded to approve the minutes of the March 10 meeting. <br />Abernethy, Hartman, Lancaster, Landis, Long, Quandt and Stelk all <br />voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> <br />PRISON OPPOSITION COMMITTEE: Karen Colan, 225 Lakeside Drive <br />stated that this committee had met at Walnut Middle School and <br />their goal is to give people the right to vote on the prison <br />issue. <br /> <br />Kay Collins, 1003 West Louise stated she would like to see the <br />public have the opportunity to vote also. <br /> <br />Jane Meidlinger - She stated that after the initial cost the <br />burden will be on the tax-payers. <br /> <br />K. C. Hehnke - He stated that if there was a vote taken it should <br />have been 6 months ago. The information has been received and <br />the process should go forward. Hartman stated the County could <br />not put the issue to a vote but the city could. <br /> <br />Sally Hernicek 1816 W Stolley Pk Rd, stated it should be voted on <br />and it will have a great impact on the community. <br /> <br />Tom Dinsdale, 1919 W LaMar stated he is opposed. <br /> <br />Keith Sinor, 4403 Calvin Drive sent a letter addressing this <br />issue to the board. He stated this is an important issue and <br />should go to a vote of the people. He stated the following <br />options do nothing and proceed as is, hold an election after July <br />11 and see if the governor would delay the selection process, <br />special elections can be held under certain circumstances if it <br />concerns tax issues, there have been amendments to election laws <br />
