<br />tJiF c)tJ/6 <br /> <br />HALL COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS MEETING JANUARY 27, 1998 <br /> <br />The Hall County Board of Supervisors met from adjourned session <br />and by published call in the County Board meeting room, 121 South <br />Pine, Grand Island, Nebraska. <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Chairman Richard Hartman. <br /> <br />Invocation was given by Rev. Steve Warringer. <br /> <br />The Pledge of Allegiance was given in unison. <br /> <br />ROLL CALL: Present on roll call were Irene Abernethy, Richard <br />Hartman, Pamela Lancaster, Margaret Landis, Huey Long, Gary <br />Quandt and Tammie Stelk. Also present were Deputy County <br />Attorney Jerry Janulewicz and news media representatives from the <br />Grand Island Independent and KRGI. <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION OF NEW CONVENTION VISITORS BUREAU EXECUTIVE <br />DIRECTOR: Ranae Seifert, executive director for the Convention <br />Visitors Burea~was introduced to the County Board. <br /> <br />MINUTES OF THE JANUARY 13 MEETING: Corrections were made to the <br />minutes. Landis made a motion and Stelk seconded to approve the <br />minutes of the January 13 meeting. Abernethy, Hartman, Landis, <br />Long, Quandt and Stelk all voted yes and none voted no, with <br />Lancaster abstaining. <br /> <br />COUNTY ATTORNEY: CONSIDER REQUEST FROM SENIOR CITIZENS FOR USE OF <br />KENO FUNDS: Deputy County Attorney Jerry Janulewicz included a <br />copy of the keno application from the adult day care program. The <br />initial request stated the keno funds would be used for <br />promotional materials for the adult day care program. Lois <br />Stienke stated that because of unforseen financial problems they <br />would like to use the funds to help with the daily operations. <br />The are hoping to increase the number of people using the <br />program. Quandt made a motion and Landis seconded to allow the <br />expansion of the keno funds. Lois Stienke stated they have an <br />insert in the January utility bills and they are working on a <br />promotional video. Landis stated that she hoped the advisory <br />board would hire a consultant to evaluate the program. <br />Abernethy, Hartman, Lancaster, Landis, Long, Quandt and Stelk all <br />voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> <br />CONSIDER RESOLUTION TO APPROVE A PROPOSED PRISON SITE, CONSENT TO <br />SALE OF REAL PROPERTY AND COMMITTING TO PAVING A PORTION OF <br />ABBOTT ROAD AND VOTE ON WHETHER TO CONTINUE SUPPORTING THE <br />PRISON: In December the Hall County Board voted to proceed with <br />the application process for the prison site.
