DISCUSS AND TAKE ACTION ON MEMBERSHIP TO SOUTH CENTRAL ECONOMIC <br /> DEVELOPMENT DISTRICT— Marlan Ferguson, 280$ Apache Road, Grand Island, stated that <br /> he is aware that there has been some discussion regarding the membership to South Central <br /> Ecanomic Develapment District. He noted that in the past it was important to be a member to <br /> be eligible for economic development grants but he did some research and that has changed. <br /> The SCEDD can off�r support for smaller communities but they have not done a lot of work in <br /> Hall County. He knows there are cancerns regarding the management. Grand Island EDC is <br /> now a non-profit development organization and they can suppart Hall County. <br /> Discussion was held on the revolving loan fund there was a $15Q.00.00 grant available and that <br /> is paid back and $50,Op0.pp sits in cofFers to be used for futur� projects, The Grand Island <br /> economic development corporation could take the responsibility for this and Mr. F�rgusan <br /> stated that they can do this. He has served on other �DC baard and they have been <br /> successful. <br /> Mr. Schuppan stat�d that h� talked ta Waod River and Doniphan and Daniphan tried to work <br /> with them but finally had to hire their own grant writer, <br /> Mr. Quandt noted that now that they have the nonprofit develapment status they can now apply <br /> for the federal grants without being a member af an �DD. <br /> Lancaster stated that it is important to cansider the ramifications. It is a $ 3,�00.00 expenditure <br /> but if there is a possibility that a smaller community could profit $3,000.00 is a small <br /> 4 <br />
