<br />F19990411 <br /> <br />HALL COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS MEETING SEPTEMBER 28 1999 <br />, <br /> <br />The Hall County Board of Supervisors met from adjourned session and by published call in the <br />county board meeting room, 121 South Pine, Grand Island, Nebraska, September 28, 1999, at <br />9:00 a.m. <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Chairman Bud Jeffiies. <br /> <br />A minute of silence was observed for invocation. <br /> <br />The Pledge of Allegiance was given in unison. <br /> <br />Present on roll call were Scott Arnold, Richard Hartman, Bud Jeffiies, Pamela Lancaster, <br />Margaret Landis, Lonnie Logan and Tammie Stelk.. Also present were Deputy County Attorney <br />Jerry Janulewicz and news media representatives from the Grand Is/and Independent and KRGI. <br /> <br />MINUTES OF SEPTEMBER 14 MEETING: Logan made a motion and Lancaster seconded to <br />accept and place on file the minutes of the September 14 meeting. Arnold, Hartman, Lancaster, <br />Landis, Logan and Stelk all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION OF NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE ECONOMIC <br />DEVELOPMENT CORP: Lancaster stated that the Economic Development Corporation has <br />hired a new director. Curtis Griess, #26 Kuesters Lake, Grand Island, thanked the Hall County <br />Board for their efforts and the funding for EDC. Their goal is to provide good jobs for this area. <br />Mr. Griess introduced Mr. Pat Downs the new director. Mr. Downs stated he was the director of <br />the Economic Development Corporation Grand Forks Region North Dakota. His family has <br />moved to Grand Island. He stated he was a farm boy from North Dakota. He stated that the city <br />and county will be strong team members along with EDC to bring good jobs to Hall County and <br />keep people here. Lancaster welcomed Mr. Downs to Hall County. <br /> <br />PUBLIC WORKS - APPROVE RESOLUTION WITH CH FARMS FOR PURCHASE OF <br />EASEMENTS: Public Works Director Dan Hostler stated that this is the last easement to be <br />purchased for the Burlington Northern crossing project except for the property owned by <br />Burlington. Lancaster made a motion and Stelk seconded to approve Resolution #99-0079 to <br />purchase the easement for the project. Arnold, Jeffiies, Lancaster, Landis, Logan and Stelk all <br />voted yes and none voted no with Hartman absent for the vote.
