<br />F19990218 <br /> <br />HALL COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS MEETING JUNE 8, 1999 <br /> <br />The Hall County Board of Supervisors met from adjourneds6ssion <br />and by published call in the county board meeting room, 121 South <br />Pine, Grand Island, Nebraska, June 25, 1999, at 9:00 a.m. <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Vice Chairman Lonnie Logan. <br /> <br />Present on roll call were Scott Arnold, Richard Hartman, Pamela <br />Lancaster, Margaret Landis, Lonnie Logan and Tammie Stelk. Also <br />present were Deputy County Attorney Jerry Janulewicz and news <br />media representatives from the Grand Island Independent and KRGI. <br /> <br />MINUTES OF THE MAY 25 MEETING: Stelk made a motion and Hartman <br />seconded to accept and place on file the minutes of the May 25 <br />meeting. Arnold, Hartman, Lancaster, Landis, Logan and Stelk all <br />voted yes and none voted no and Bud Jeffries was absent. Motion <br />carried. <br /> <br />9:05 A.M. RON FRYDA WITH US FISH AND WILDLIFE SERVICES - WILDLIFE <br />DAMAGE CONTRACT: This is for the renewal for the contract with <br />the US Fish and Wildlife Services. Mr. Fryda stated that they are <br />$525.00 over budget for the currant year but they will bill the <br />additional amount in July. The cost of the contract for the new <br />fiscal year will be $7,468.00 which is an increase of $223.00. <br />Landis made a motion and Hartman seconded to approve the contract <br />in the amount of $7,468.00. Arnold, Hartman, Lancaster, Landis, <br />Logan and Stelk all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> <br />9:15 A.M. BICYCLE ORDNANCE ON SOUTH LOCUST: Sheriff Jerry Watson <br />requested speak. He stated that because of the number of <br />complaints and the safety issue he wanted to address the issue. <br />He recommended that the bicycles not be allowed after sunset and <br />before sunrise. Stelk expressed concern that the road is narrow <br />and there may be increased traffic. <br /> <br />John Wayne owner of Wayne's Cycle stated that he is not a Hall <br />County resident but travels the road often and felt that the <br />traffic was not a problem and that South Locust is an ideal route <br />to ride. He encouraged the board to educate the public on <br />bicycle safety. <br /> <br />Bob Wieck stated that he rides the route and there are more <br />problems in the city limits. He agreed that education and <br />limiting bicycle traffic after dark was a good idea. He also <br />suggested that a traffic count could be taken. <br /> <br />A representative of the boy scouts stated that the scouts have a <br />merit badge for cycling and he would like to work with any group <br />to educate the public on bicycle safety. <br />
