<br />Y-19990201 <br /> <br />11:30 A.M. JERRY RYAN MIDLAND AREA AGENCY ON AGING BUDGET: Jerry <br />Ryan and Lois Stienke were present to address the board on their <br />budget request. It is a continuation of prior years requests. <br />There was legislation that would provide additional funding on <br />the senior citizens side. The membership fee is $5,928.00 but <br />this may be subject to change with the new census. The cost for <br />Senior Citizens will be $17,250.00 and this has been approved by <br />their local board. Hartman made a motion and Logan seconded to <br />accept the budget request from Midland Area Agency on Aging. <br />Arnold, Hartman, Jeffries, Lancaster, Logan and Stelk all voted <br />yes and none voted no with Landis absent. Motion carried. <br /> <br />BOARD MEMBER'S REPORTS CONTINUED: Hartman stated he attended the <br />public works committee meeting and the reuse meetings. He stated <br />that Robert Schultz, superintendent of the Weed Department is <br />looking for a new spraying truck using the state bid process. <br /> <br />Stelk - She attended a transportation meeting and there will be <br />another meeting. Representatives from private sector <br />transportation providers also attended the meeting to access the <br />services that are available in the community. She also attended <br />the corrections negotiations meetings. <br /> <br />Lancaster - She attended the corrections interviews and reported <br />there were good applicants. She also attended the corrections <br />negotiations. Convention and Visitors Bureau is looking at new <br />interstate signs. She also participated in the Goodwill Fund <br />Raiser. <br /> <br />Arnold - He attended the building and grounds committee meetings <br />and also spent several hours on the Head Start matter. The <br />criminal justice committee also met on the grant application. <br /> <br />Jeffries - He attended the meeting with the fire departments the <br />public works committee meeting and also participated in the <br />Goodwill Gran Prix. <br /> <br />NEW OR UNFINISHED BUSINESS: Deputy County Attorney requested a <br />public hearing be set for the tourism grant application. Stelk <br />made a motion and Hartman seconded to set the public hearing for <br />June 8, 1999 at 9:20 a.m. Arnold, Hartman, Jeffries, Lancaster <br />and Logan all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Board assistant Stacy Ruzicka stated she received a letter from <br />Bev Golovech requesting that the board send a letter of support <br />to the legislature requesting the uninsured motorist bill be a <br />priority. Logan made a motion and Stelk seconded to sent a <br />letter of support and authorize the chair to sign. <br />
