<br />F19990051 <br /> <br />Public Works Director Dan Hostler returned with the bids on the <br />bridge material. Wilson Concrete Company was the low bidder on <br />Group 1 and 1aa in the amount of $26,636.88 and Midwest Service <br />and Sales Company was the successful bidder on Group II in the <br />amount of $46,210.48 and Group III $910.60 with a total bid of <br />$73,757.96. Landis made a motion and Lancaster seconded to award <br />the bids to Wilson Concrete and Midwest Service and Sales and <br />authorize the Chair to sign the contracts. Arnold, Hartman, <br />Lancaster, Landis, Logan and Stelk all voted yes and none voted <br />no with Jeffries absent. Motion carried. <br /> <br />DON DIETEMEYER - REQUEST FOR A LETTER OF SUPPORT FOR GRANT <br />APPLICATION FOR THE "LIVING FAMILY FARM": Don Dietemeyer lives <br />two miles west of Doniphan and he has inherited a home he wants <br />to restore. He is working on a block grant application with <br />Renee Seifert and the Convention and Visitors Bureau. Mr. <br />Dietemeyer stated that this will be a hands-on educational farm. <br />Hartman made a motion and STELK seconded to send a letter of <br />support. Arnold, Hartman, Lancaster, Landis, Logan and Stelk all <br />voted yes and none voted no with Jeffries absent. Motion <br />carried. <br /> <br />ACCEPT AND PLACE ON FILE TORT CLAIM FROM MARK GRIESMAN: Mark <br />Griesman, 242 South Cherry filed the claim concerning the loss of <br />his apricot trees. He stated the trees were killed and damaged <br />from drift spray when the Weed Department sprayed for the City. <br />This claim was received and sent to the county's insurance <br />carrier. Stelk made a motion and Lancaster seconded to accept <br />and place on file. Arnold, Hartman, Lancaster, Landis, Logan and <br />Stelk all voted yes and none voted no with Jeffries absent. <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />MICK KLIEN JUVENILE SERVICE GRANT RENEWAL FOR STAFF SECURE: Mr. <br />Klien stated that this is the annual renewal for the staff secure <br />grant that he applied for last year. They have held four youth <br />that were ordered held by the County Judges. He stated that they <br />will receive full funding again this year and there will be no <br />cost to the county. Lancaster made a motion and Arnold seconded <br />to renew the grant application and authorize the Chair to sign. <br />Arnold, Hartman, Lancaster, Landis, Logan and Stelk all voted yes <br />and none voted no, with Jeffries absent. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Discussion was held on the plans to proceed with the updates to <br />Mid-Plains for the emergency shelter. Lancaster made a motion <br />and Stelk seconded to with the addition of a wall in the <br />stairway, install a pull down fire alarm system and to put a wall <br />in the kitchen to bring the facility up to code. Arnold, <br />Hartman, Lancaster, Landis, Logan and Stelk all voted yes and <br />none voted no, with Jeffries absent. Motion carried. <br />
