Schuppan suggested approving the exemption and seeing what happens this year since they <br /> ar� considering some options. <br /> Quandt made a motion and Ziola seconded to grant the exemption for GI Labar Temple. <br /> Arnold, McFarland, Quandt, Schuppan and Ziola all voted yes and Lancaster and Purdy voted <br /> no. Motion carried. <br /> 3. Chamber of Commerce — Pelland stated that this application is marked as charitable and <br /> they are a 501 c6 as per the internal revenue code. Their mission is education training and <br /> workforce development of the community. Cindy Johnson was present. Lancaster questioned if <br /> any of the other entities in the building pay rent and Ms. Johnson stated that Leadership <br /> Tomorrow pays $100.�Q a month and AIN also pays $10p.00 a month. She stated that 60% is <br /> funded through dues and there are some outside funds from grants and fundraisers. <br /> Arnold made a matian and Quandt seconded to approve the exemption application for the <br /> Chamber of Commerce. This is also listed under charitable. <br /> Discussian was held on the qualifications for the exemptions. <br /> Ms Johnson stated that the Chamber was chartered in 1952 and was filed as charitable but it <br /> could be filed under educational. <br /> Arnald noted that the exemption far educatianal is very specific and also agricultural is very <br /> specific and he also stated that they promote community betterment. Lancaster questianed if <br /> they could check 2 boxes but those have been returned. Charitable seems to catch it all. <br /> McFar�and questioned if Ms. Pelland knew what other counties have done with the exemptions <br /> on the changer of Commerce. Discussion was held and the meeting will be recessed for mar� <br /> information. <br /> Arnold withdrew his motion and Quandt withdrew his second. <br /> 4. CAPITAL HEIGHTS SWIM CLUB—This exemption is on at 50% and on the form they did not <br /> indicate any category so Ms. Pelland talked to the president of the company and they sent a <br /> letter stating that they are a 5Q1C7 nonprofit corporation and would file as charitablE. <br /> Discussion was held and they are only open to the members. Lancaster stated that you wauld <br /> buy shares and pay a membership fee. It is not open to the public. She expressed concern on <br /> the exemption. <br /> Arnold noted that the definition of charitable is for the social mental and physical well being of <br /> the cammunity and it does not specify public. It is a nonprofit and it is a 50% exemptian. <br /> Purdy made a mation and McFarland seconded to approve the Capital Heights Swim Club at <br /> 50%. Arnold, Lancaster, McFarland, Purdy, Quandt, Schuppan and Ziola all voted yes and <br /> none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> DISCUSS R�VOCATION OF EXEMPTION APPLICATION FOR MIDWEST LATIN AM�RICAN <br /> DISTRICT COUNCIL ASSEMBLIES OF GOD Ms Pelland stated that they adjusted the value of <br /> the house for 2012 because it is no longer used for an exempt purpose. The house seems to <br /> be vacant and it no livable. They did not do anything on the church proper but they also <br /> 2 <br />
