County Surveyor Casey Sherlock stated that State Statute 39-1725 stated that "After the public <br /> hearing th� county board shall by resolution at its next meeting or as soon thereafter as may be <br /> practicable vacate or abandon or refuse vacation or abandonment" This has to be approved by <br /> a two thirds vote af aii members of the board. He aiso noted that 39-1726 "in any county in <br /> which is located a city of the metropolitan class, written notification of the praposed vacatian <br /> shall b� give to the planning director of the city." Notice will also have to be given to the <br /> township and they have 4 months to respond then the county can proceed. <br /> Lancaster stated that this is the board's opportunity for discussion. <br /> Mr. Zitterkopf stated that he does not have a prablem with discussion but is reluctant if the <br /> discussion takes sides and that could resemble a vote. He also noted that this will require a <br /> resolution and with a short week he may need more time. <br /> Lancaster stated that the discussion could be in two weeks. <br /> Ziola asked to wave the comments because there is a lot to read and he has not had time to <br /> review all of the material from today <br /> Arnold questioned if the board could reopen the public h�aring for more discussion and it was <br /> agreed th�y could not. He stated that he is no position to mak� a decision today. <br /> Mr. McFarland agreed that there is a lot to study and read. <br /> McFarland made a motion and Arnold seconded to delay the discussion for the next meeting. <br /> Arnold, Lancaster, McFarland, Purdy, Quandt, Schuppan and Ziola all voted yes and none <br /> uoted no. Motion carried. <br /> This will be on the agenda and the public can request time to speak on the agenda item <br /> concerning the closing of Elm Island Road. <br /> 15. JUDY HUMISTON HALL COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY-- DISCUSS APPROVAL FOR <br /> MOVING HISTORICAI. MARKER RELATED TO PLATTE VALL�Y ACADEMY - Mr. McFarland <br /> stated that he was contacted by Judy Humiston with the Hall County Historical Society <br /> regarding the Platte Valley Academy marker. <br /> Judy Humistan 1110 West 10�" Street, Grand Island stated that ther� has been a marker for the <br /> Platte Valley Academy and it was taken dawn but they know where it is and are requesting <br /> permission to place the marker. <br /> County Surveyor Casey Sherlock stated that this is a driveway an a county road right of way <br /> and he has granted a drive way permit in the past for the placement of a marker. He inspects <br /> the site to se� if there are any problems and then will issue a permit. Since it is for the Hall <br /> County Historical Society he will waive the fee. Discussion was held. <br /> Schuppan made a motion and Quandt seconded to approve the placement of the marker. <br /> Arnold, Lancaster, McFarland, Purdy, Quandt, Schuppan and Ziola all voted yes and none <br /> vot�d no.
