9:05 A.M. Held a Board of Equalizatian Meeting <br /> 9:1p a.m. Returned to the regular meeting. <br /> 1A RECOGNITION OF ACHIEVEMENT AWARD �ROM NATIONAL ASSOCIATION <br /> OF COUNTY OFFICIALS ANNUAL CONFERENCE — Lancaster stated that the <br /> Register of Deeds received an enhanced electronic achievement award. This is not a <br /> competitive award it is recognizing the electronic advancements of the R�gister of <br /> Deeds to put the informatian on line. Lancaster also noted that the IT department <br /> played a key role in setting this up and thanke Mr. Drudik for his efforts. <br /> Arnold also noted the accomplishments of the IT department and stated that this makes <br /> our life easier. <br /> PUBLIC PARTICIPATION — Lancaster called far public participation. <br /> Marlan Ferguson requested to address the board. He stated that he may be moving to <br /> the city as the interim administrator if it is approved by the city council for at least 90 <br /> days. He noted that the city and county are experiencing growing pains as we reach <br /> the 50,OQ0 in population. He thanked the board for their support. He also stated that he <br /> wanted to support the South Central Economic Development District. <br /> 4 COUNTY ATTORNEY — DISCUSSION REGARDING RE-ASSIGNMENT OF JURY <br /> COMMISSIONER DUTIES — Deputy County Attorney Jack Zitterkopf stated that he will <br /> not take the blame or credit for this agenda item. County Attorney Mark Young <br /> stumbled across this statute and he read the statute. This issue needs some research <br /> and stated that he is nat sure how much time this would take. He suggested referring <br /> this to a committee to research the issue. Discussion was held. <br /> Quandt made a motion and Arnold seconded to refer this to the personnel committee to <br /> research the issue af the jury commissioner and to look at any other obligations there <br /> may be because of the population of Hall County. Arnold, Lancaster, McFarland, Purdy <br /> Quandt Schuppan and Ziola all vated yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> 5. SHARON HUEFTLE SOUTH CENTRAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DISTRICT <br /> ANNUAL REPORT— Sharon Hueftle with the South Central Economic Development <br /> District was present she thanked the board for their support and noted that Mr. Quandt <br /> s�rves on their board. They cover 12 counties and she works with the communities to <br /> promote economic develapment. She noted that with the South Central's District <br /> assistance there has been $5,252,234.00 in funding. They provide resources and <br /> information for businesses. She also noted that the Nebraska Regianal Officials <br /> Council is another excellent resource for the economic development areas. <br /> Mr. �'ergussan noted that they assisted New Holland with th� block grant. Ms. Hueftl� <br /> alsa encouraged the smaller communities in Hall County to contact her. <br />
