5D PUBLIC WORKS -- DISCUSS AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN RESOLUTION AND
AGREEMENT FOR FRACTURE CRITICAL BRIDGE INSPECTIONS — Mr. Sherlock stated that
this has been an issue regarding the agreement for the bridge inspections. The inspections are
75% done and the agreement was sent after the work was started. He received an E Mail and
the board also received a copy stating that the soft match dollars can be used to pay for the
bridge inspections. This is a onetime exception and the counties will be able to use the soft
match dollars for this expense. Mr. Sherlock stated that the engineering agreement does not
say anything about using soft match credit so he created a new resolution addressing the use of
the credits.
Arnold made a motion and Ziola seconded to approve Resolution #12 -010 regarding the soft
match dollars for the critical bridge inspection with the State of Nebraska. Arnold stated that he
appreciates that Casey took the lead on this issue.
Schuppan stated that Casey did a good job and a number of counties looked to Casey for
leadership on this issue and he did make a difference.
The vote on the motion to approve the resolution was taken. Arnold, Lancaster, McFarland,
Purdy, Quandt, Schuppan and Ziola all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried.
7
