4 <br /> various 4 -H programs through the schools and various extension and Kid's College programs. <br /> Miranda Wieczorek was also present she has been a 4 -H member for many years and she read <br /> a statement regarding 4 -H. She serves on several boards and committees including state and <br /> national committees. Mr. Quandt stated why she would encourage young people to join 4 -H <br /> and she stated that it is a good way to meet new people and for the individual recognition. The <br /> board thanked them for coming <br /> 10:00 a.m. Held a Board of Corrections meeting <br /> 10:20 a.m. Returned to regular session <br /> 9 DISCUSS AND TAKE ACTION ON RESOLUTION SUPPORTING ANIMAL AGRICULTURE <br /> Schuppan stated that this was discussed at the NACO meeting and the Humane Society of the <br /> United States has a lobbyist in Lincoln and there are number of counties supporting the local <br /> producers. Larry Dix sent a copy of the resolution and Mr. Schuppan stated that he talked to <br /> Lori at the Humane Society regarding this resolution. He would like to see Hall County support <br /> this resolution. <br /> Schuppan made a motion and Purdy seconded to approve Resolution #12 -001 supporting <br /> animal agriculture. Arnold, Lancaster, McFarland, Purdy, Quandt, Schuppan and Ziola all voted <br /> yes and none voted no. Motion carried <br /> Arnold expressed concern on the fact that some national groups address unpopular issues or <br /> hidden agendas by using accepted social issues and pray on the public's best intentions to <br /> promote their political agendas. <br /> Ziola noted that they have had some success passing legislation in some states in Florida they <br /> have put so much red tape on regulations that 2 of the largest hog operations have been forced <br /> out of operation. <br /> Purdy thanked the board members for attending the NACO conference it showed good support <br /> and you learn a great deal from attending. <br /> Schuppan made a motion and Purdy seconded to approve Resolution #12 001 supporting <br /> animal agriculture. Arnold, Lancaster, McFarland, Purdy, Quandt, Schuppan and Ziola all voted <br /> yes and none voted no. Motion carried. Schuppan requested that a copy be sent to the <br /> Nebraska Cattleman's Association. <br />
