HALL COUNTY BOARD OF CORRECTIONS MEETING JULY 5, 2011 <br /> 10:20 A.M. Quandt made a motion and Amold seconded to go into a Board of <br /> Corrections meeting. <br /> Present on roll call were Scott Arnold, Pamela Lancaster, Daniel Purdy, Gary Quandt, <br /> Steven Schuppan and David Ziola. Bud Jeffries was absent. <br /> Also present was Fred Ruiz Corrections Director, County Attorney Jack Zitterkopf and <br /> Board Assistant Stacey Ruzicka. <br /> CALL TO ORDER - The meeting was called to order by Vice Chairman Pamela <br /> Lancaster. <br /> NOTICE OF OPEN MEETING LAW — Vice Chairman Lancaster read the notice of the <br /> open meeting law. <br /> PUBLIC PARTICIPATION - Vice Chairman Lancaster called for public participation and <br /> no one responded. <br /> CORRECTIONS DIRECTORS REPORT — Corrections Director Fred Ruiz stated that <br /> they are still working on the RFP for the finger printing equipment. He has talked to <br /> Jerry Janulewicz and they looked at the web site for the state bid and they have a desk <br /> top model that would use a PC but that model is $579.00 more than the funds that they <br /> have available. But this model would let them use it for the public fingerprints. <br /> Discussion was held and he was asked why he did not go out for bids but Mr. Ruiz <br /> stated that he has had difficulties writing the RFP. He stated that he would like to move <br /> forward with this project. <br /> He also reported that with the new phone cards that are available on the kiosks there <br /> should be an increase in the revenue stream. This project should be completed in a <br /> couple of weeks. <br /> They will also be going through the ICE audit the week of July 18 <br /> He also reported that the contract negotiations have started and they have had one <br /> meeting. <br /> He also reported at amendment #6 to the Aramark contract for the inmate meals will <br /> needs to be signed. There will be a 5.33% increase; this increase is based on the <br /> consumer price index. The meals will increase from $1.29 to $1.36. This will be an <br /> increase of $38,000.00 in the food line in his budget. With 240 inmates X $1.36 X 3 <br /> meals a day x 365 days per year would equal $357,408.00. <br /> Advance Correction Healthcare has a 3% increase for this budget year with $335,616.00 <br /> for the new fiscal year compared to $326,820.00 for the previous year. <br /> He also reported that there has been talk of having county facilities hold felonies rather <br /> than transferring them to a state facility. But there has not any discussion on this in the <br /> state of Nebraska. <br /> 1 <br />
