They are also proposing to add additional bunds to some of the units D and E. They will <br /> have to clear the proposal with jail standards. This is an area that has to be segregated <br /> from the general populations. . <br /> He reported that they currently have a mental health intem that is assisting the mental <br /> health provider. He is asking the board to consider the purchases that he discussed. <br /> He stated that NIRMA is holding a conference in August and the will be presenting an <br /> hour long session on inmate classification. Ice will be doing an inspection of the facility <br /> in the near future. He stated that they are going to start an in house news letter and do <br /> a spot light an employee every month. He stated that Paul Wagoner from the <br /> maintenance staff used some of the inmates to clean up various roads and streets <br /> In Grand Island for the city wide clean up for the State Fair. <br /> He stated that the average daily population is at 151 and in this fiscal year he only spent <br /> $1,500.00 for safe keepers in other facilities. They have not sent any inmates to Lincoln <br /> for 2 years. The medical staff is doing well and the new AIS automated information <br /> system has made a huge difference on the phone calls that they have to answer. They <br /> cut 6 employees from the staff and the new technology has helped. <br /> He stated that they billed $1.7 million and received $1.5 million this fiscal year. There <br /> should be one more year on the inmate housing. <br /> Mr. Ruiz requested direction from the board on the purchase from the inmate welfare <br /> fund. Discussion was held on the transfer from the inmate welfare fund to the general <br /> fund and Stacey expressed concern that this transfer needs to be made. <br /> Quandt made a motion and Rye seconded to authorize the purchase of the hand held <br /> units from the inmate welfare fund. Jeffries, Purdy, Quandt, Rye and Wagoner all voted <br /> yes and none voted no. Scott Arnold and Pamela Lancaster were absent. Motion <br /> carried <br /> Discussion was held on the bid from Ensley Electric for the replacement of the CAT wire. <br /> They will sue the same conduit and pull new wire. <br /> The Quarterly jail tour will be held today. <br /> NEW OR UNFINISHED BUSINESS -- Chairman Jeffries called for new or unfinished <br /> business and no one responded. <br /> Meeting recessed for the quarterly jail tour. — y ���."���,�� <br /> e <br /> Returned to the regular meeting. ® G ►r , / <br /> Marla J.
