COFFEE FOR BOB BAKER - Friday a coffee will be held for Bob Baker the on -site foreman for the construction of the new faculties this coffee will be held from 2p.m. to 4 p.m. VIDEO COURT SYSTEM - ICE has inquired about a video arraignment connection system for their detainees. They would like to see about a connection to the federal courts in Omaha. ARMARK FOODS -Mr. Ruiz mentioned that Armark Foods would be participating in this years Red Cross Chili cook -off. He asked that members of the Board come out to support this worth while cause. It's a day of good food and fun. ACADEMY FOR CORRECTIONAL OFFICERS - Having met with other correctional department from other agencies in the region, there are plans underway do develop an Academy for Correctional Officers, This is in the First stages of the planning for the Academy and look forward to the final results. There will be enrollment fees to cover the cost materials and supplies for the training. Staffing with the ICE contract has impacted his staff. Ruiz felt a need to assign a Sergeant to that unit, and promote a current employee to the position of sergeant, but not increase the number of employees for his department. Eriksen asked Mr. Ruiz about bids on the security system for the Court House Annex. There will need to be a Security system. There will need to be cameras on the doors, and fences, improvement with or without a gate in the fence area for security issues. The bids will be opened on February 3, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. All bids are due to the County Clerk's Office by January 30, 2009. Mr. Ruiz explained that the upper level of the Court House Annex is no longer using by his staff, only the lower level. Record keeping of the detainees has become a storage issue. There are criminal as well as medical records on all inmates thus there is a lot of paperwork and where will we be storing it has to be addressed. The question was asked where will the funds from ICE contract be deposited. The Board Assistant Stacey Ruziicka answered that the funds will be deposited in the County General Fund in the designated line item of federal deposit.
