<br />Press Statement <br /> <br />. ~_~K~~ i. <br /> <br />FOR IMMEDIA TE RELEASE <br /> <br />Contact: Deb Collins 402-479-4985 Nebraska State Patrol or <br />Jerry Watson, event coordinator, <br />Hall County Sheriff's Office 308-385-5200 <br /> <br />May 14, 2008 <br /> <br />Reminder- State Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony Tomorrow. <br /> <br />Special ceremonies are planned by law enforcement agencies across the state to <br />mark National Police Memorial Week, May 12-16, 2008. Thursday, May 15, 2008, is <br />Law Enforcement Memorial Day. <br /> <br />A ceremony honoring Nebraska officers, who have lost their lives in the line of duty, <br />will be held at the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center/Nebraska State Patrol <br />Training Academy (NLETC/NSPTA) beginning at 10:00 AM, on Thursday. The <br />public is invited to attend the ceremony, which will take place in the gymnasium at the <br />Training Academy. An on-site reception will be held following the service. <br />The ceremony will include reading of the names of the officers who have died in the <br />line of duty, and a 21-gun salute. <br /> <br />Lieutenant Governor Rick Sheehy will participate along with various dignitaries from <br />across in the state in Thursday's observance. Honor Guards from the Nebraska <br />State Patrol and the Grand Island Police Department will assist with the ceremony. <br />Representatives from numerous Nebraska law enforcement agencies from across <br />the state will also be on hand for the ceremony. An official from the state law <br />enforcement memorial committee will also provide an update on beginning of <br />construction of the State Memorial in Grand Island. <br /> <br />Since 1866, 128 federal, state, county and municipal Nebraska officers have made <br />the ultimate sacrifice. <br /> <br />.
