Rich McKinny, Hall County Sheriff's Office <br />(308) 385-5200 <br />RE: Recent area compliance checks. <br /> <br />On August 3"' between the hours of 6:00 PM. and 9:00 PM. compliance checks <br />were conducted on 68 local area businesses that sell alcoholic beverages. Four <br />teams made up of members from the Grand Island Police Department, Hall <br />County Sheriff's Office and the Nebraska State Patrol teamed up for the <br />special enforcement. Of the 68 businesses checked. only 5 were cited for <br />selling alcohol to minors. The following is a list of those businesses cited: <br /> <br />Carlos O'KeJlys Restaurant-ISIO N. Diers AYe. G.l. <br />EI Toro Restaurant 3425 W. State Street 6.1. <br />Wal-Mart 2250 N. Diers Ave 6.1. <br />Pizza Hut 707 N. Diers Ave 6.1. <br />Super Saver 1602 W. 2nd Street S.X. <br /> <br />Four of the five businesses cited sold to the minor even after checking their <br />identification. The remaining business did not check identification. <br />Compliance checks are used by law enforcement agencies across the country. <br />If conducted on a regular basis, they are Q good barometer of the measure of <br />G community's progress on reducing alcohol sales to minors. <br /> <br />Local law enforcement will continue our commitment to perform these checks <br />regularly . <br />
