Ahlers/Sheriff Watson - Hall County Sheriff's <br />Office <br /> <br />RE:Alcohol Compliance Checks <br /> <br />NEARLY ALL PASS ALCOHOL COMPLIANCE CHECKS <br /> <br />Alcohol compliance checks were conducted in Hall County on April 21, 2006. <br />Assisted by two <br />youth aged 17 & 18 , officers from the Nebraska State Patrol, Grand Island <br />Police Dept. and Hall County Sheriff's Office checked 26 businesses. The only <br />failure was the Wood River Country Club making a failure rate of 4%.. The <br />employee did not check the youngsters ID and was given a citation for sale of <br />alcohol to a minor, the penalty for which is up to 1 year in Jail or $1000 fine <br />or both. It should be noted that as always, the youth used their own ID which <br />differs from an adult ID in that it is laid out in a vertical format and the <br />adult is in a horizonal format. <br /> <br />Well -implemented compliance check programs have been found to produce <br />dramatic reductions in sales to minors. It appears that local businesses are <br />stepping up and doing their part in the battle against underage drinkinmg.
