Sheriff’s Dept. <br />Date: 02-15-2018 <br /> <br /> Sheriff Jerry Watson was recently reappointed to the <br />Police Standards <br />by Governor Pete Ricketts for another four year term. <br />Advisory Council <br />Watson has served on the Council for the past four years, originally <br />appointed by Governor Heinemann in 2013. In 2017 Sheriff Watson was <br />elected as Chairman of the Police Standards Advisory Council and also was <br />appointed by the Governor to the <br />Nebraska Crime Commission. <br /> <br />The Police Standards Advisory Council serves the Nebraska Crime <br />Commission by being responsible for establishing the standards, rules and <br />training governing the certification of law enforcement officer in Nebraska. <br />The Council is also responsible for oversight of the revocation of law <br />enforcement certificates of officer who have failed to meet the set <br />requirements. <br /> <br />All Council members are appointed by the Governor to four year terms. The <br />Council consists of seven voting members as forth in State Statute. Six of <br />the voting members are law enforcement professionals and on member is a <br />citizen at large, or a member of the Jail Standards Board. Meeting are <br />normally held the third Wednesday of each month at the Nebraska Law <br />Enforcement Training Center. <br /> Page 1 <br /> <br />
