<br /> Press Statement <br />Hall County Sheriff’s Office <br /> <br />Grand IslandNE <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />To: All Media <br />From: Hall Co. Sheriff’s Dept. <br />Date: April 28, 2014 <br /> <br /> Deputies were dispatched to a two vehicle accident on April 27 at <br />approximately 4:10 PM at the intersection of Gunbarrel and Hwy 30. <br />Investigation revealed that a 2012 Chrysler four door sedan, driven by <br />the lone occupant Constance Baasch DOB:7-1-54 of Grand Island, <br />stopped at the stop sign on Gunbarrel and then proceeded to turn west <br />onto Hwy 30. <br /> The Chrysler crossed directly in front of a 2006 Harley Davidson, being <br />operated by Rodney Beckman DOB:11-16-62 of Marquette Nebraska, <br />which was traveling east bound on Hwy 30. The motorcycle struck the <br />drivers door of the Chrysler. Mr. Beckman was pronounced dead at the <br />scene. Mrs. Baasch was transported to St, Francis Hospital with non life <br />threatening injuries. <br /> The Sheriff Department was assisted at the scene by NSP, Merrick <br />County SO, Grand Island Fire and Grand Island Rural Fire Departments. <br />The accident is still under investigation and no charges have been filed at <br />this time, alcohol does not appear to be a contributing factor. <br /> <br />ALSO SEE PAGE TWO <br /> Page 1 <br /> <br />
