<br /> An ordinance vacating that part of Jefferson Street lying north of the north property line of
<br /> Division Street, running thence nor�h one hundr`ed thirty-�wo (132) feet to the a11ey also known as
<br /> the East One-half (E2) of Lot C, E1m Place, Addition 'to the City of Grand Island, Hall County,
<br /> Nebraska; authorizin� the sale of that p�rt of said street so vacated to Ralph E. Murphy and Ear1e
<br /> G. Johnson, and stating the terms of said sale; providin� Por the giving oP notice to the electors
<br /> of the City oP Grand Island relative '�o the sale thereof and providing Por the Piling of a remon-
<br /> strance against said sale.
<br /> Whereas, that part of Jefferson Street extending north of the north property line of Division
<br /> Street, is known �,s a stub street and extends only a diatance of one hundred thirty-two (132 feet
<br /> north of said Division Street,� a;nd becauae of '�he Pa.ct that said street does not extend a11 the way
<br /> through the bloek to Flrst Street, the same is not used for public travel, and,
<br /> Whereas, Ra1ph E. Murphy and Earle G. Johnson of the City of Grand Island, who own real estate
<br /> on either side of said stub street, desire to purcha�e that part of Je�ferson Street and incorporate
<br /> the same as a part of their residence properties, beautify the same and thereby make aome use of
<br /> sa.id street, and,
<br /> Whereas, that paxt of said Jef�erson Street here�.n described serves no useful purpose to �he
<br /> publlc and is no'� used as a '�ravel thoroughfare and the same can, without 1n�uring the rights of
<br /> citizens, be so1d.
<br /> Whereas, the said Ralph E. Mur hy and Earle G. Johnson have oPfered to pay the City of Grand
<br /> Island the sum of Fivs Hundred (�500.00) Dollax� for that paxt of gaid JefPerson Street so vacated.
<br /> Now, Therefore, Be It Ordained by the Mayor and C�ty Counci]. of the City of Grand Island, ATebraska:
<br /> Section l. That that part of Jefferson Street lying north of the north roperty line of Division
<br /> Street, running thence north for a distance of one hundr�d thirty-two (132� feet to the alley, also
<br /> known as �he east one-half (E-�) of Lot C, Elm Place Addition to the City of Grand Tsland, Hall
<br /> County, Nebraska, (being 132 �feet in length by �0 Peet in width) be and the same is hereby vacated.
<br /> Section 2. That the sale of that paxt of sai.d Jeff erson Street deseribed in Section 1 of this
<br /> ordinance be and the s�.me is hereby authorized, directed, and confirmed to Ralph E. t�urphy and
<br /> Eaxle G. John�on of the C�.ty oP Grand Island, Nebraska.
<br /> Sec:tion 3. The termg of the sale of that part of said street so vacated are as follows: The
<br /> purchasers, Ralph E. Murphy and Earle G. Johnson have agreed to pay �herefore the total sum of Sive
<br /> Hundr ed (�500.00) Dollars, and have further agreed to pay all costs in connection with the publica-
<br /> tion of this ordinance and any and �,11 o'�her costs in connection with the sale and conveyance of
<br /> said real estate. The City shall not be reguired to furnish an Abstraet of Title.
<br /> Section �+. As provided by law, notice of such sale and the terms thereof shall be published for
<br /> three consecutive weeks in the Grand Island Daily Independen'G, a newspaper published in and oY
<br /> general circulatSon in the City o� Grand Island, Nebraska, immediately after the passage and pub-
<br /> 13cation of this ordinance; and the City Clerk is hereby directed and instructed to prepare and
<br /> publish said notice.
<br /> Seetion 5. �Authority is hereby granted to the el�ctors of the City of Grand Island, Nebraska, to
<br /> Pile a remonstrance against the sale of the within described real estate; and if a remonstra.nce
<br /> against such �ale signed by legal electors of said City equal in number to thirty per cent (30�)
<br /> ' of the electors :oP the Gity of Grand Island, voting at the la5t regular election held in said City
<br /> be filed with the Mayor and City Council within thirty days after the passage and publication of
<br /> this ordinance, such proper�y shall not then, nor within one year th ereafter, be sold.
<br /> Section b. The sale of said r�al estate is hereby directed, authorized and confirmed; and iP no
<br /> remonstrance be filed against such sale, the Mayor and City Clerk shall make, execute and deliver
<br /> to Ra,lph E. Murphy and Earle G. Johnson, a Quit Claim Deed for said property and the execu�ion ot'
<br /> said Deed is hereby authorized without f urther action on behalf of the City Council.
<br /> Section 7. This ordinance sha11 be in force and take effect from and after its passage, approval
<br /> and publi ca.tion as provided by 1�.w.

<br /> - Grand Island, Nebraska, for more than 52 weeks succeasively prior to the first pub�icatlon of the
<br /> annexed printed notice, and is a legal newspaper under the st�,tus of the Sta,te of Nebraska; that the
<br /> annexed printed notice was published in said newspaper for three weeks, the Pirst publication being
