87- 105555 <br />ORDINANCE NO. 7409 <br />An ordinance requiring grading, curbing, gutteringo and <br />paving of Vine Street from Fourth Street to Fifth Street; <br />providing for the levy and collection of special taxes and <br />assessments upon the adjacent or abutting properties specially <br />benefited by such improvements; and providing an effective date <br />of this ordinance. <br />WHEREAS, that portion of Vine Street from Fourth Street to <br />Fifth Street is unpaved and does not exceed two blocks including <br />intersections, or thirteen hundred twenty -five feet, whichever is <br />the lesser; and <br />WHEREAS, paving said portion of Vine Street will make Vine <br />Street one continuous paved street. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF <br />THE CITY OF GRAND ISLAND, NEBRASKA: <br />SECTION 1. Pursuant to Chapter 18, Article 20, R.R.S. <br />Nebraska 1943, that portion of Vine Street from Fourth Street to <br />Fifth Street shall be improved by paving, curbing, guttering, and <br />all incidental work in connection therewith, to be known as <br />street improvement No. 1152G, in accordance with plans and <br />specifications prepared by the Engineer for the City and approved <br />by the Mayor and Council. <br />SECTION 2. The improvements shall be made at public cost, <br />but the cost thereof, excluding intersections, shall be assessed <br />upon the lots and lands in the district specially benefited <br />thereby as provided by law. <br />SECTION 3. The lots and parcels of real estate adjacent to <br />or abutting upon the portion of said street to be improved are <br />located within the following boundaries: <br />Beginning at the junction of the South line of Fifth <br />Street and the East line of Vine Street, said point <br />also being the Northwest corner of Lot 4, Block 26, <br />Original Town, now City of Grand Island; thence pro- <br />ceeding northerly along an extension of the East line <br />of Vine Street for a distance of 40 feet; thence <br />deflecting left in a westerly direction 40 feet from <br />and parallel to the south line of Fifth Street for a <br />distance of 80 feet; thence deflecting left in a <br />
