201800874
10 INTRODUCTION
The Diamond Engineering Company has been contracted by Swift Beef Company of Greely
Colorado to supply and construct an 8.5' x 40' pedestrian walkway bridge which will span an
outfall ditch along Swift Rd. This pedestrian bridge will be a free span bridge supported by six
8" H -Pile driven by Impact Hammer or Vibratory Hammer to a depth of 44' below existing
grade. Sheet Pile will be used as a back wall to prevent erosion of the accompanying sidewalk
and fill that supports it.
The site contains a 12" Ductile Iron water main in close proximity to the proposed southern
abutment. This Utility is owned and operated by the City of Grand Island Nebraska Utilities
Department. They have expressed concern that this Utility may be susceptible to damage due to
Pile Driving operations.
We are using this "plan" as a way of demonstrating that the Pile Driving Operation will not be
detrimental to the existing Utility and the Vibration caused by the Pile Driving operation will fall
below allowable limits.
1
