<br />WILL AND DECREE.
<br />LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF JOHN KUHLSEN.
<br />I, John Kuhlsen, residing at 307 East Third Street, Grand Island, Nebraska, considering the
<br />uncertainty of life and being of sound mind and memory, do make, publish, and declare this my
<br />last will and testament, in manner and form following, that is to say;
<br />Item First.
<br />I direct that the expense of my last illness, my funeral charges, and all of my just debts
<br />shall be paid as soon after my death as practical.
<br />Item Second.
<br />I direct that my remains shall be intered by my deceased wife's in the Grand Island Cemetery
<br />and direct that my executrix shall use Bubh part of the insurance or death benefit due my es-
<br />tate from the Low German Society or Plattdeutache Verein as may be necessary to pay the city
<br />of Grand Island for the perpetual care of my lot in the Grand Island Cemetery.
<br />Item Third.
<br />I give and devise to my children Clara Kuhlsen, Emil Kuhlsen, Emma Templeton and Theodore
<br />Kuhlsen my burial lot above referred to.
<br />Item Fourth.
<br />I give and bequeath to my son, Emil Kuhlsen of St. Joseph, Missouri, and to my daughter Emma
<br />Templeton of Ogden, Utah, and to my son Theodore Kuhlsen of Grand Island,Nebraska, each the
<br />sum of Fifty Dollars and direct my executrix to pay said legacies as soon as practical after
<br />my death.
<br />Item Fifth.
<br />All the rest and residue of my estate, real personal and mixed, of whatsoever kind and where-
<br />soever situate, now owned or hereafter acquired by me, including the premises where I now re-
<br />side at 307 East Third Street, Grand Island,Nebraska, being the East Twenty -two feet of Lot
<br />Four and the West Twenty -two feet of Lot Three in Block 69 of the original town, now City of
<br />Grand Island, Nebraska, and my insurance in the low German Society above mentioned, subject tc
<br />the payment of the legacies and charges contained in the above Items, I give, devise and be-
<br />queath to my daughter Clara Kuhlsen of Grand Island,Nebraska, to belong to her absolutely upon
<br />my death. I make this bequest and devise to my daughter Clara in consideration of the service
<br />care and attention she has given and rendered to me, as a provision for her.
<br />Item Sixth.
<br />Should my daughter, Clara Kuhlsen, die before I do, then and in that event I give, devise and
<br />bequeath all my estate, real, personal and mixed, now owned or hereafter acquired by me, of
<br />whatsoever kind and wheresoever situate to my children Emil Kuhlsen, Emma Templeton and Theo-
<br />dore Kuhlsen, me surviving, share and share alike and if any of my said children shall die
<br />before me leaving a child or children, him or her surviving, then I direct that said child or
<br />children, as the case may be, shall take the share that its parent would have taken, had such!
