<br />excess of income after all such payments have been made, and also after any payments which may be ,
<br />made under the power conferred upon my trustees in the next succeeding paragraph, then such excess
<br />shall be paid over to Doane College at Crete, Nebraska, to be used for the general purpose of the
<br />College.
<br />IV. In making the foregdng provision for my children I have in mind their present circumstar
<br />ces and needs, and if at any time or times during the continuance of this trust, any of .r3r childre
<br />(or my grandchildren after their parent's death) shall need, by reason of any change in circumstar
<br />ces, a greater provision for their comfortable support, I authorize the trustees who may then hav
<br />the administration of this trust, to make such payments to any child or grandchild who may need it
<br />out of the income, or if necessary out of the principal, of said trust fund, as they, my said trus
<br />tees, may think proper, committing this wholly to the sole discretion of my said trustees, and in-
<br />tdnding that suitable provision be made by such payments for my said children, a,nd their issue af-
<br />ter their death, so long as this trust may continue.
<br />V. After the death of my said sister, brother, wife and children, and so soon thereafter as
<br />there remains no grandchild of mine under the age of twenty one years, I direct that the said tr
<br />property and fund, or so much thereof as may then remain, be paid over by mfr trustees unto the
<br />aforesaid Doane College, and that this trust be then terminated; the fund so paid over to be held
<br />by Doane College as a permanent fund, to be called the Doane Fund, the income thereof, as it may
<br />accrue to be applied to the general uses of the College.
<br />VI. I give to my said trustees and their successors full power and authority to sell and die
<br />pose of all or any part of the trust property and estate in fee simple or for any less estate, at
<br />such times, and upon such terms, as may to them seem expedient without the necessity of applying
<br />to any court, and no purchaser need see to the application of any part of the purchase money;
<br />provided however that the said estate No. 8 Pearl Street shall not be in any way disposed of so
<br />long as my wife lives and remains my widow without her consent; and the said trustees shall invest
<br />and from time to time in their discretion reinvest, the said trust funds and the proceeds of any
<br />property disposed of.
<br />It is my will that any part of my estate which yields little or no income, and which cannot
<br />be reasonably expected to increase in value shall be sold as favorable opportunities occur, in or
<br />der that a safe and remunerative investment may be made; and I suggest, for the investment of the
<br />trust fund, bonds, bank stock and especially real estate and real estate mortgages, but I direct that
<br />:not more than one tenth of the total amount of said trust property and funds shall be invested in
<br />any one security or estate, and further direct that great regard be always had for the security o
<br />the principal of the fund.
<br />If my trustees.shall, at any time, in the proper administration of their trust, buy, or othe
<br />:vise acquire or hold any terminable securities the nVLrket price or value of ;which is then at a
<br />;premium above the par value thereof, I authorize and empower my said trustees, if they deem it
<br />;wise so to do, to treat the entire income or revenue arising from such securities as income for
<br />the purposes of the trust, without the necessity of retaining a part of such income to provide fo
<br />a subsequent diminution of the market price or actual value.
<br />The dividends received from the South Platte Land Company are to be treated as p- rincipal,
<br />not income.
<br />VII. I appoint David B. Perry, my son in law; John Doane, my son; and Henry B. Twombly, my
<br />son -in -law, to be the trustees under this my will.
<br />I direct that the number of trustees be always kept at three and whenever any vacancy occurs
<br />the same shall be filled by the Probate Court for Suffolk County aforesaid, upon the nomination of
<br />the remaining trustees, and I give to all succeeding :trustees all the powers herein conferred upon
