<br />I. Thomas Doane, of Boston in the County of Suffoll� and Commonwealth of Massachusetts do make
<br />and publish this my last Will and Testament.
<br />First. I direct that my body be buried in the cemetery at Orleans, Massachusetts, by the
<br />side of my deceased wife Sophia that a slab similar to that at her grave be erected at my grave,
<br />at the charge of my estate, and that the thereafter the sum of twenty five dollars ($25.) be apprc
<br />priated annually frcm the income of the trust fund hereinafter established, so long as the trust
<br />continues, to keep in order and beautify the entire lot in which our bodies lie.
<br />Second. I give and bequeath unto my son John, if he survive me, and if he does not then in
<br />equal shares unto his children who may be living at my death, all my drawing and surveying instru-
<br />ments, my mathematical and scientific books, my History of Cape Cod, and also all my note books
<br />and plans used or made in the business of my office as civil engineer.
<br />Third. All my articles of household use and ornament, personal effects which are of any val-
<br />ue, and books, except as herein before provided for, I give to my wife Louisa A. Doane during her
<br />life, is she remain my :widow, and upon her marriage or at her decease the same are to be divided
<br />j among my children then living, in equal shares. Should any one or more of my children_ have then
<br />.deceased, the children of such deceased, if any, shall take by representation the parent's share.
<br />The names and present residences of my children, are as follows:-
<br />Mrs. Helen Doane Perry, of Crete, Nebraska; Rev. John Doane, of Grand Island, Nebraska; Mrs.
<br />Caroline Doane Weeden, of Springfield. Vermont; and Frances Doane Twombly, of Summit, New Jersey.
<br />Fourth. I give to my mother's sister, Mrs. Maria Baker of South Yarmouth, Massachusetts, if
