<br />State of Iowa, being of sound mind and memory . and of disposing disposition, in view of the
<br />entire a,.-,.oun'u that shall be realised from my Estate, be the same more or less. It is my design
<br />€: purpose that the property above described shall be used for the purpose above nentioncd,, and
<br />having implicit con-.,,"idence in 1:1.ie int."g-.-ity and sound judgment of the said George Loomis and
<br />uncertainties of human life, do hereby make, publish and c"eclare this as and for my last Will
<br />Testament hereby revoking, and making void, all willsby Trie at any time heretofore Made.
<br />First. I desire all of my just and lawful debts to be paid from my estate.
<br />Second. I hereby give, devise and bequeath unto my wife, Sophia Smith, for and during
<br />her natural life, the entire property now occupied by us as our homestead, being Lot Fo.Three
<br />Hundred & Fifty Two ( 362) in the original rlatu of the City of Burlington, Des Moines County,
<br />and State of Iowa, together with all and improve ments thereon, and including all
<br />,,biiildings
<br />household and other goods with 7,,:hich our homestead is'-`f`uUrnished. I also bequeath to my wife an

<br />Annuity of One Thousand (1000) Dollars to be paid to her in semi-annual payments I also beque-
<br />ath to my wife whatever i-,,ay be due on my policy No. 29775 in the Washington Life Insurance Com-
<br />pany, said insurance policy is dated April 7th 1874, and at this date amounts to about Three
<br />Hundred & Twenty (320) Dollars.
<br />Third I desire, and hereby direct my Executors hereinafter named, to sell so much
<br />of my personal real estate as may be necensaxy t o pay all may y just debts and create a fund

<br />Fourth. All the rest residue and remainder of my property whether Real, Personal or
<br />mixed. Said Real Estate consisting od lands Town property -,and Silver Mines or Lodes all being
<br />situated in fhe Counties of Des jlyloines, Adams and Montgomery in the State of Iowa,, in the Coun
<br />ies of Hall Adams, Kearney, Buffalo, Harlan, Furnas, Red 'Willow & Hitchcock in t1le State of
<br />N ebraska and in the County of Clear Creek in the State of Colorado, including also, after the
<br />death of my wife, my homestead abcve described and the fund created with which to pay the Annu-
<br />ity bequeathed to my -,.,ife, I hereby bequeath unto Rev. George Loomis D.D. Clifton Springs
<br />in the State of Now York., and Hon. John C.Power of Burlington Des hoins County and State of
<br />Iowa, In Trust to be used by them or under their direction and control for the purpose of adva-
<br />ncing the Educational interest of the Ladies Sthool located at Clifton Springs in the State
<br />of New York, and under the management of Rev. George Loomis P.D. and Doctor Henry Poster., and
<br />of the Sim son Centenary College located at the town of Indianola, in the County of Warren and
<br />the State of Iowa, and under the control of the Des I'Loines Annual Conference o..L l Uh Methodist Epis-
<br />copal Church. This bequest to be used in aiding r,r�,id "Ladies School" either in the erection of
<br />buildings or as an Endownert fund, or as my said Trustees shall consider will be the most 9-ut-C -
<br />es sful in aiding said "Lades School" in the accomplishment of good. And portion of this bequ-
<br />eat that may be giventU8 Simpson Centenary Co]-legell is to be devoted to endowing the chair of
<br />Natural Science 11 and for no other puxpose.It is my desire ,and I hereby direct that George
<br />Loomis shall determine how much of this bequest each of the above named Institutions shall re-
<br />ceive. Conditional that Simpson Centenary College -hall receive n ot more t1a 11 fourth Uh of the
