<br />In the Name of God. Amen:
<br />I,Herman Conrad Held,of the city of Grandlsland,in Hall Coi_-�nty Nebraska,being of sound mind and
<br />memory,but mindful of the uncertainty of Human Life do make,publish,and declare,this ,my last
<br />Will and Testament,That is to say
<br />A'
<br />Item First:-- I desire that all my just debts and funeral expenses be first paid.
<br />Item Second : - I give,devise and bequeath unto my son Adolph H.Held all my stock of jewelry,
<br />watches,and clocks and all tools implements and trade fixtures used by me in my store.
<br />This devise is not intended as an advancement or to be taken into accoiint in the distribution
<br />of my estate as hereinafter provided but as compensation for his services as executor as mentioned
<br />herdin. Item Third:- I give devise and bequeath unto my eldest daughter Minnie Held,my piano
<br />and all household goods,pictures,orn4ments,and all the jewelry and- ornaments that lately belong-
<br />ed to her deceased Mother,my carriage and my family horse. This bequest is not made as an advan-
<br />e, cement,nor to be taken into account at the division of my estate as provided for in this will
<br />but as a part compensation for her care and devotion as a Foster Mother to her younger sisters.
<br />Item Fourth I desire that my family be kept together until the youngest child shall have attained
<br />her legal majority and that my homestod in this city may always be a home to them without rent
<br />or price and to that end I nominate my said eldest daughter GuardiAn of the Persons of all
<br />minor children until their majority or until they shall choose guardians of their own,and I
<br />trust my eldest daughter Minnie Held,to do all in her power to carry out this wish and to be the
<br />mistress of that home and hereby direct my executors to allow and pay her as compensation therefor,

<br />the sum of Three Hundred Dollars per annum so long as she shall act as foster mother to her
<br />youngest sisters and make and keep my home their home during their minority. Such sums are not
<br />to be considered as an advancement or to be accounted for in the final distribution of my estat4
<br />as provided for in this will. Item Fifth :- I give devise and - bequeath unto my brother Johann
<br />Held,of Haren on the Ems,Hanover,Germany,all the goods,chattels,moneys,rights credits and
<br />property which belong to me at my death and which shall be
<br />become due and whether in possession or expectancy to have
<br />brother Johann Held,his heirs,and assigns,forever.
<br />,Item Sixth :- I desire that my executors hereinafter named
<br />residue of my estate both real and personal and out of the
<br />of my personal estate,they keep all improvements on all my
<br />all taxes and assessments against the same,and provide for
<br />ance of all my children during their minority,and this sha:

<br />the support,education,and maintain -

<br />all my children so long as they make my home'their home,together. Whether some shall have
<br />attained their majority,or yet remain minors and this to continue until ml youngest child shall,'
<br />attain her legal majority. Item Seventh :- When my youngest child shall attain her legal major., ,
<br />ity of eighteen years,then I desire that my said executors divide all my property equally among'
<br />all my children then living,share and share alike ( the children of any deceased child to take
<br />such share as its parent would have been entI_tled to,,if then living ) and in order to effectuate'
<br />such division without the expense and sacrifice of a sale,I desire that all my property be then
<br />appraised at its fair value,each living child to name one appraiser,and the children of any
<br />deceased child to name one appraiser,and the price fixed by a majority of such appraisers shall
<br />be the baisis for such division. In the event any child,or if dead,its children, for any cause,
<br />neglect,or refuse to act,then the County Judge for the t-ime being, to name such appraiser for
<br />such child or children. Item Eighth In the event of the marriage of any of my daughters,or
<br />in the event,that any of them shall desire to engage in any lawful trade,business,or profession
<br />�4before a distribution of my estate,then,and in such case,Ieuthorize my executors to make such
