<br />t:"" 20000411 <br /> <br />13 SAFETY COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION - DISCUSS AND APPROVE FIRE <br />EXTINGUISHER TRAINING FOR ALL EMPLOYEES: Safety Coordinator Stacey <br />Ruzicka stated that the safety committee discussed holding fire extinguisher training for <br />all county employees. The training will take one to one and half-hours to complete. <br />Margaret Landis, Chairman of the Safety Committee, recommended that the county <br />board approve this. Landis made a motion and Jeffries seconded to approve the fire <br />extinguisher training for all the county employees. Arnold, Hartman, Humiston, Jeffries, <br />Lancaster, Landis and Logan all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> <br />16. DISCUSSION CONDITION OF CEMENT PAD AT TOURISM CABOOSE: Lancaster <br />reported that the tourism caboose that is located near Morman Island is in need of <br />repair. The cement pad is deteriorating. She contacted Marsha Medberry and Darrel <br />Johnson with the Public Works Department and they stated that it could be repaired for <br />about $100.00. This would replace some of the cement with asphalt and then once the <br />tourism season is over it the cement pad could be replaced. Lancaster made a motion <br />and Arnold seconded to authorize the Public Works Department to do the temporary <br />repair of the cement pad and after the tourist season is over to replace the cement pad. <br />Arnold, Hartman, Humiston, Jeffries, Lancaster, Landis and Logan all voted yes and <br />none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> <br />17 DISCUSSION ON APPOINTMENT OF COUNTY SURVEYOR: With the retirement of <br />Daniel Hostler the County will need to appoint some one to fill the position of county <br />surveyor. County Attorney Jerry Janulewicz distributed a memo to the board members <br />regarding the state statute. The person that is appointed must receive the same salary <br />and benefits as the former official and the appointment must be made in 45 days. <br />Discussion was held on advertising for the position. The salary would remain at the <br />$6,000.00 annually. Jeffries made a motion and Lancaster seconded to advertise for a <br />surveyor to fill the unexpired term. The application will be received until September 5 <br />and the board will hold interviews on September 11 at 5:00 p.m. Discussion was held on <br />contracting with some one but the state statute clearly state that if there is not a qualified <br />surveyor in the county, the person appointed would have to be from any other county in <br />the state. Arnold, Hartman, Humiston, Jeffries, Lancaster, Landis and Logan all voted <br />yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> <br />2 DISCUSSION REQUESTING AN UPDATE FROM FARM PROGRESS COMPANY <br />REGARDING THE SALE OF LAND FOR HUSKER HARVEST DAY SITE: Landis stated <br />that the Reuse Committee met and discussion was held on the Husker Harvest Day site. <br />The Reuse Committee requested that the county board should contact Farm Progress <br />concerning the purchase of the Husker Harvest Day Site. Jeffries made a motion and <br />Landis seconded to send a letter to Farm Progress concerning the sale of land for the <br />site. Landis stated that Farm Progress Company is notified of the Reuse Committee <br />meetings so they are aware of what is going on. Arnold, Hartman, Humiston, Jeffries, <br />Lancaster, Landis and Logan all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> <br />2a DISCUSS AND APPROVE RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE SALE OF PARCELS <br />22,23,24,25,26,2731,38,43,45,4648, AND 50 AT CORNHUSKER ARMY <br />AMMUNITION PLANT: County Attorney Jerry Janulewicz prepared the resolution to sell <br />these parcels. Jeffries made a motion and Lancaster seconded to approve Resolution <br />#00-77 requesting the sale of Parcels 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27 31, 38, 43, 45, 4648, and <br />50 at Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant. <br />
