<br />r01327 <br /> <br />The safety committee recommended to run an ad in the paper and to distribute an <br />application and the information to all of the employees and all department heads. The <br />application period will close on July 6 and the selection committee will review the <br />applications and make a recommendation at that time. <br /> <br />Jeffries - He attended the public works committee meeting and he will be meeting with <br />Howard County concerning the interlocal agreement Hall County has with them to <br />provide services to their veterans. He will report back to the board on this meeting. <br /> <br />Lancaster - She reported that Midland Area Agency on Aging has hired Carla Koeker as <br />the new director. She has a master's degree in public administration. She also attended <br />the joint meeting for the health department budget but no action was taken because the <br />county did not have a quorum. The computer committee met and she also had a <br />meeting on the One-Stop Workforce Development committee. <br /> <br />Eriksen - He reported that he helped with the Tuesday special election by collecting <br />early ballots. He attended the safety committee meeting and Friday there will be a <br />statewide meeting on area health and they will receive information on LB 692. He <br />attended the joint health board meeting on their budget. The health board will meet <br />again this Thursday and they may come back with some options on the space needs <br />and funding for this project. <br /> <br />Humiston - He attended the parks committee meeting, the corrections committee <br />meeting and the weed board meeting. He also attended the Memorial Day services at <br />the Veterans Park. He reported that the weed board had a lengthy discussion on the <br />budget. The computer committee has had three meetings also. <br /> <br />Arnold - He attended the Midland Area Agency on Aging interviews and they have hired <br />a new director. He also attended the health department joint meeting several computer <br />committee meetings and they are working on the current year budget. He also had a <br />library board meeting and a conditional use committee meeting and a Head Start <br />meeting. <br /> <br />Hartman - He attended the Memorial Day service at the Veterans Park, a building and <br />grounds committee meeting and he reported that Judge Bush has expressed a concern <br />on the fees that are paid to the court appointed attorneys. He also attended the <br />corrections committee meeting and a meeting with CNCS. <br /> <br />BOARD ASSISTANT - Stacey Ruzicka reminded the board members of the dedication <br />ceremony for the Lincoln Highway and that there will be an audit committee meeting <br />after the board meeting. <br /> <br />4 LEE JOHNSON MID AMERICA BENEFITS DISCUSS AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO <br />SIGN RENEWAL CONTRACT AND DISCLOSURE STATEMENT FOR HEALTH <br />INSURANCE: Lee Johnson with Mid America Insurance presented the board members <br />with information on the renewal of the health insurance contract. Health insurance costs <br />have gone up dramatically and with all the new technology it allows new procedures that <br />are expensive. This insures a good health system but it is costly. The reinsurance <br />market has shrunk so that lessens competition. He recommended that the county raise <br />the specific to $50,000.00 because this will reduce the fixed costs and Hall County's <br />reserve in the claim account will allow this increase.
