Motion carried. <br /> <br />14 UPDATE ON COUNTY HANDBOOK: Logan stated that the human relations <br />committee sent the revised handbook to the county board and the county board sent it to <br />the elected and appointed officials. They have made some suggested changes and now <br />it will need to be reviewed by the county board. Logan made a motion and Jeffries <br />seconded to refer the revised county handbook to the personal committee for their <br />review and recommendation. Arnold, Eriksen, Hartman, Jeffries, Lancaster and Logan <br />all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> <br />18 ACCEPT THE 2001 COMMITTEE ASSIGNMENTS: The committee assignments <br />were made and discussion was held on the Stuhr Museum board and the Economic <br />Development Board. Hartman stated that Lancaster and Humiston could both attend the <br />Economic Development meetings. Eriksen stated that he had a conflict on the Midland <br />Area Agency on Agency meetings and would not be able to attend. They will try to find <br />another alternate to attend. Jeffries made a motion and Eriksen seconded to accept the <br />committees as assigned. Arnold requested information on the length of the terms on <br />some of the committees. Arnold, Eriksen, Hartman, Humiston, Jeffries, Lancaster and <br />Logan all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> <br />COMMENCE AUDIT OF MONTHLY CLAIMS: Discussion on the claim for the <br />registration fee for an elected official was held. Arnold stated that these are valuable <br />meetings for anyone new and a good training ground. He stated that the board should <br />make a policy that newly elected officials should be able to attend. County Attorney <br />Jerry Janulewicz submitted a letter to the county board concerning this. It is legal for <br />some one to act as a volunteer for the county on county business. In the future it should <br />be approved prior to the meetings. This will be referred to the personal committee for a <br />recommendation for a policy. Logan made a motion and Arnold seconded to approve <br />the claims as audited. Arnold, Hartman, Humiston, Jeffries, Lancaster and Logan all <br />voted yes and Eriksen abstained. Motion carried. <br /> <br />BOARD ASSISTANT'S REPORT: Stacey Ruzicka provided information to the board <br />members on the invitation to attend the recognition of the outstanding man and woman <br />of the year. She also reminded the board member's of the county board workshop <br />February ih through the 9th in Kearney and encouraged them to turn in their <br />registrations. <br /> <br />BOARD MEMBER'S REPORTS: Logan - He attended the safety meeting and the ADA <br />meeting and the long-range planning meeting. Logan reported that the safety project in <br />the veteran's service office has been completed if the board members would like to look <br />at it. <br /> <br />Jeffries - He attended the public works committee meeting, the long-range planning <br />meeting and he also attended his last extension board meeting. <br /> <br />Lancaster - She attended the CAAP history committee meeting and the computer <br />committee meeting. She stated that the board of health accepted resignation of the <br />director and is starting the process for hiring a new health director. She reported that the <br />
