Arnold, Eriksen, <br />Hartman, Humiston, Lancaster and Logan all voted yes and none voted no with Jeffries <br />absent. Motion carried. Discussion was held on the funds that were allocated to the <br />assessor and if any of those funds could be used for a computer or lap tops for use by <br />the board of equalization. Lancaster stated she would check with Jan Pelland. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #02--O.OJ] <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION APPOINTING REFEREES <br />FOR THE 2002 TAX ASSESSMENT YEAR <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Neb Rev. Stat. 77-1502 (1996 Reissue) requires that the Hall County Board <br />of Equalization shall hold a session of not less than three days, for the purpose of reviewing and <br />deciding protests filed pursuant to Neb. Rev. Stat. 77-1502 to 77-1507; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Neb. Rev. Stat. 77-1502.01 (Reissue 1996) authorizes the Board of <br />Equalization to appoint one or more suitable persons to act as referees to hear protests in the first <br />instance and to transmit to the County Board of Equalization all papers relating to such protests, <br />together with written findings and recommendations; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the County, to accommodate the volume of protests and to afford each <br />taxpayer ample opportunity for a meaningful hearing before a qualified individual, has <br />determined that it should appoint referees to hear the protests filed for the 2002 assessment year; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in order to ensure that all protests are processed expeditiously, treated fairly <br />and consistently, and decided in compliance with the provisions of state law, the County has <br />determined that it should seek a qualified firm or individual to supervise and coordinate all <br />activities of the referees and to provide referees to be appointed by County to hear the protests <br />filed for the 2002 assessment year; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Great Plains Appraisal Company employs qualified individuals and is <br />willing to contract with County to provide the necessary supervision and coordination of the <br />referee activities and the necessary referees for the 2002 assessment year. <br /> <br />NOW BE IT RESOLVED that the following individuals are hereby appointed to act as <br />referees for protests filed with the Hall County Board of Equalization for the 2002 assessment <br />year pursuant to the agreement approved this date by and between the County of Hall and Great <br />Plains Appraisal Company, to wit: <br /> <br />4 <br />
