<br />(031.09 <br /> <br />10:00 a.m. returned to the Board of Equalization meeting. <br /> <br />10:10 a.m. returned to regular session. <br /> <br />The public works committee met to review the bids for the trucks. Jeffries made a <br />motion and Arnold seconded to accept the recommendation of the public works <br />committee to purchase the chassis truck from Nebraska Truck Center for $48,315.00 <br />and to purchase the sign truck from Hansen International for $54,004.16. The bid from <br />Hansen International was the lowest bid from a local dealer. Arnold, Eriksen, Humiston, <br />Jeffries, Lancaster and Rye all voted yes and none voted no, with Hartman absent for <br />the vote. Motion carried. <br /> <br />The public works committee reviewed the gravel bids. Jeffries made a motion and <br />Arnold seconded to accept the bids from Hooker Brothers for Project #1 in the amount of <br />$19,970.00, accept the bid from H&M Equipment for Project #2 in the amount of <br />$18,997.50 and accept the bid from Lilley Sand & Gravel for Projects 3 & 4 in the <br />amount of $55,099.00. They will accept all of the pit prices from the bidders. Arnold, <br />Eriksen, Humiston, Jeffries, Lancaster and Rye all voted yes and none voted no, with <br />Hartman absent for the vote. Motion carried. <br /> <br />16 COMMENCE AUDIT OF BI WEEKLY PAY CLAIMS AND REGULAR CLAIM AND <br />ACTION ON CLAIM AUDIT - The board members reviewed the claims. Arnold made a <br />motion and Jeffries seconded to approve all the claims as audited but the deny the claim <br />for $17.73 from the Adams County Sheriff and to deny the claim for $15.00 and $5.50 to <br />the Lancaster County Sheriff. Arnold, Eriksen, Humiston, Jeffries, Lancaster and Rye all <br />voted yes and none voted no, with Hartman absent for the vote. Motion carried. <br /> <br />4 SCOTT ROSENTHAL - US FISH & WILDLIFE UPDATE ON TRAPPING - Jeffries <br />stated that the county has a contract with US Fish & Wildlife for predator control. This is <br />an annual cost of $8,704.00. Jeffries stated that he has been working with Scott on a <br />skunk problem and he does an excellent job and is very professional and humane. <br /> <br />Mr. Rosenthal stated that he would like to give updates to the counties regularly and is <br />working with his supervisor to do this. He stated that he covers four counties and about <br />18,000 acres. Some counties have one predator problem but Hall County has beaver, <br />coyotes and skunk problems. He has worked on everything from bats to snakes. Some <br />of the cases are health and human safety issues. <br /> <br />Jeffries stated that he was contacted by a couple that lives in his area because of a <br />skunk problem and he contacted Scott for help. Scott came down and set up three traps <br />and over the last two weeks they have trapped two or three skunks every day. The <br />people are very appreciative of Scott's help. Jeffries thanked Scott for his help and said <br />he appreciates the updates. <br /> <br />BOARD MEMBER'S REPORTS - Humiston - He attended the computer meeting, the <br />Economic Development meeting, the audit committee meeting and the joint meeting with <br />the city of Grand Island. <br /> <br />Eriksen - He stated the attended the meeting with the NRD relative to the Hall County <br />Park and it was a good meeting. He attended the jail tour in Kansas and also the joint <br />meeting with the City on Saturday. <br /> <br />4 <br />
