PRESENTATION FROM MICHELLE SETLIK HALL COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY <br /> - Michelle Setlik reviewed the 2025-2026 projects. <br /> • Completed the Centennial mark Project installing 11 Nebraska Sate Historical <br /> Markers across Hall County <br /> • HCHS accepted a plaque recognizing the 1903 motorcycle ride of George Wyman <br /> through hall County first person to cross the United States in a motorized vehicle <br /> • Completed the restoration of the original Stolley Summer Kitchen <br /> • Held Bygone Book Club, Voices of he Past, Hall County Women's History Walk, <br /> Henry Fonda Film festival and the Grand Cemetery Tours and programs <br /> • HCHS maintains 4 historic sites and 6 historic structures in Hall County <br /> • Walnut Middle School Diplomats and HCHS member assisted with cleanup projects <br /> • The Heritage room at Wood River's new Legacy Station will openi July 2020 and <br /> HCHS help purchase shelving <br /> • NETA is working on educational components for a film that will be offered on PBS <br /> stations the Night of the Broken Glass <br /> • America's 250th anniversary at Stuhr will have German Church service and Hall <br /> County Chautauqua <br /> Bredthauer the 250th Anniversary will be a big event at Stuhr Museum. <br /> 5.DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION TO APPROVE HISTORICAL SOCIETY 26-27 <br /> BUDGET REQUEST— Richardson made a motion and Bredthauer seconded to <br /> approve the 2026 2027 Hall County Historical Society budget. Bredthauer, Hurst, <br /> Lancaster, Peterson, Quandt, Richardson and Sorensen all voted yes, and no one voted <br /> no. Motion carried. <br /> 6. 9:30 A.M. PUBLIC HEARING HALL COUNTY TRANSIT— Sorensen made a motion <br /> and Bredthauer seconded to open the public hearing. Bredthauer, Hurst, Lancaster, <br /> Peterson, Quandt, Richardson and Sorensen all voted yes, and no one voted no. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> Bob McFarland is the director for the Hall County Transit program with the help of <br /> Brown Transit as our contractor. Hall County was forced to separate from the City and <br /> the first time we went out for bids we did not receive any the second time Brown Transit <br /> submitted a bid and they helped the county program get started but they are a for profit <br /> business, there are not very many in the state. When we operated with Crane there <br /> were some economies. Our current ride cost is $147.00 and riders are charged $2.00 <br /> Our budget match has been reduced by 27% and usually it is a 20/80 or 90/10 match <br /> Hall County has contributed about $40,000 to the budget. <br /> Bob McFarland stated that in addition to the/$32,000 match there could possibly be <br /> $75,000 to $85,000 over the local match. <br /> 4 <br />
