HALL COUNTY WEED CONTROL <br /> ROBERT SCHULTZ - SUPERINTENDENT <br /> 2807 W 2ND ST GRAND ISLAND, NE 68803 <br /> PHONE: 385-5097 <br /> 5-4-2026 <br /> The Hall County Weed Board met on May 4, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. for the monthly meeting. <br /> Members present were Chad Gideon, Wayne Foster, Gary Jacobson and Rob Schultz. <br /> The meeting opened at 9:00 a.m. The minutes were approved with a motion by Chad. <br /> Gary seconded. Motion passed. <br /> Claims for April were read and approved with a motion by Chad and seconded by <br /> Wayne. Motion passed. April expenses to date are: $3,796.94 and income was $9,363.94 <br /> Public Participation: New Weed Watch magazines are here. <br /> Old Business: <br /> • Platte River Resilience Fund continues to grow just a little. Currently it has about <br /> $1.5 million in it. Fund raising is continuing. <br /> • LB 807 update; It was approved and signed by the governor. The funding coming <br /> from the State of Nebraska will now be coming through NDWEE and not NDA. <br /> Rob and a few others met with NDWEE on March 24t1' to go over the new grant <br /> program and some other details. Katie from NDWEE was on the call at the <br /> WMA Summit last week. <br /> New Business: <br /> • Rob went over his monthly report. <br /> • The Weed Board dissolution will be an issue on the general election ballot in <br /> November 2026. The hearing is May 5, 2026, at 10:00am in the County Board <br /> room. The Board discussed ways to provide information about what they do. <br /> • The county budget meeting for department heads is on May 7th. <br /> • Rob attended the Nebraska Weed Management Area Summit meeting in Kearney <br /> last week. Weed Mgt Areas representatives were there from across the state <br /> telling what they have done in their WMA over the past year and what their future <br /> plans might be. They discussed the new NDWEE grant process. <br /> • Some spraying has taken place on days when weather allows. Still have quite a <br /> few jobs to do. <br /> • PVWMA update: helicopter spraying will be taking place in June. Airboat and <br /> drone spraying will start in late May. <br /> A motion to adjourn was made by Chad and seconded by Wayne. Motion carried. <br /> The next meeting will be held on Monday, JUNE 1, 2026, at 9a.m. <br /> Gary Jacobson, Secretary <br />
